air bags gone when I got the thing... now what??

I guess you're right... I was just wanting to confirm that my "rear end" was set up properly since the air portion has been deleted. I'll be putting my teenaged daughter in this vehicle, so safety is my first concern. She walked away from a serious accident a couple of months ago while at the wheel of out now-totaled Suburban, so she knows the benefit of driving a car like that or our newest, the Exp!

Can't speak to the others but mine had airbags with no shocks. Conversion kit allows you to take out the airbags and put in shocks and coil springs

Coil springs and shock conversions work fine. We did that with one of our older town cars we used to run in our transportation business. We used to have a taxi company service some things for us. They use the same chassis as a Ford crown Vic, so we threw in a low mileage set of rear springs. Not quite as floaty as the air springs, but worked fine.
