Thanks! Loving being back behind the wheel. I had a scare last night though, went to start the truck and NOTHING. I knew it was a dead battery, but after just putting in a new engine, any failed starts will make you cry on the inside a little. Picked up a new battery after getting a jump start and shes purring like a kitten. Funny how little the dealership told me about breaking in my new engine, I asked multiple times as to what the recommendations were. They simply stated to drive it like you normally do. Then the oil change interval was at 5k miles on the sticker. I'd rather follow the advice of strangers online. The engine runs nice though. Its night and day compared to my old engine.

The reason I've always changed oil at 500 to 750 miles on first oil change is because their is small amounts of metal that wear on a new engine. It's just something that I've been taught years back from smarter people than I. It's always worked for me. I've always passed on the same info to customers and friends. I worked as a motorcycle and auto mechanic for over 40 years. Better safe than sorry. Oil changes are only $40.00 or so.

Not sure what to make of this. On a cold start today it made a loud growling noise. Like it was sucking in a lot of air. Engine runs and sounds nice when warm, sorta stumped. I'm going to try and get a video of it tomorrow if it happens. Only things I could find online are fan clutch issues. Sounds engine related though. Maybe ill watch the rpm to see if they spike on startup.

Why not bring it back to the mechanic that put in your engine. Might have to leave overnight to duplicate cold condition. In the meanwhile check clamp that goes around air filter. Make sure nothing is disconnected or loose around engine bay.

Funny you mention that. They broke one of the clips on the air box.

Turns out the clip they broke will require a whole new air cleaner housing. Lovely. Vehicle has a vibration around 2500 rpm. Suspecting its exhaust related.

It could be, or it can be a driveshaft out of balance. Where do you feel it at in vehicle?
