Anyone do this with jacks/jack stands? Also, did your conversion automatically give some lift?

I'm looking to do the conversion on my 06 Limited. I also want to lift the truck 1-2" and I'm trying to figure out if I really need a lift kit. I've heard that the conversion does lift the truck some, and I've hard that it doesn't.

I am going to do this conversion and the only thing I was wondering is which fuse to remove so the compressor will no longer work but the steering adaptive system will still be OK.

The kit came in and only thing not clear is the rubber/plastic spring seat does it go on the bottom of the spring or the top. I would have thought there would be a seat for the top and bottom. They also do not say if the small coil in the spring goes up top or bottom.

Anyone clear this up?

UPDATE; 2000 Expedition

Finished the Monroe conversion yesterday. The fronts did not need to remove the upper yoke of the suspension. I found a trick to getting the lower end of the spring/shock in to the lower seat. I used an old scissor jack for a toyota and jacked up the bottom of the shock and then after it was high enough to clear the bottom of the lower mount I just pushed it off into the mounting area. This saved a bunch of time and possible frustration getting the upper suspension off.

The rear had it's challenges too and again the scissor jack did the trick. After dropping the rear axle as far as possible after undoing the stabilizer bar there was still not enough room to get the spring into the lower mount. I used the scissor jack between the axle and the chassis to spread it far enough to then let the spring get into position. BUT the hardest part was getting the upper shock mount to allow the new shocks into position. The mount was squeezed tight when the shocks were put into the truck and after removing them the new shocks would not slip in. TRICK take the old shock and use it like a pry bar and work it back and forth to widen the flange so the new shock can slip in. After tightening the bolt it will be nice and tight again. Mounting the lower mount of the shock again uses the scissor jack to push up the lower mount into place.

The most time was spent getting the rear shocks into place until I figured out how to widen that upper mount.

This is a 2000 Expedition XLT and the ride is now great.

OH the fuse to remove is in the engine compartment #190. Be sure to turn on the switch under the dash so the steering works correctly again.

Good luck

I converted my sister's 07 Limited to coil spring/strut in the rear after the compressor failed. I simply bought loaded "quick" struts and installed them in a couple hours. Appears to ride the same so it was well worth it!
