My lower trailing arms are rusted bad. I mean I can literally pole holes through them so im going to replace them.

I heard you have to remove the gas tank, is that true?

Also any tips or tricks would be appreciated. Any special way you need to jack it up so the holes line up properly when installing the new arms?

I have the wrenches, I have a torch, I have the jack and the jack stands, I have penetrating oil to soak them in. Anything else I will need?

Thank you!

did you get them changed i just did mine like week ago hardest part was breaking the nuts loose i didnt have torch i use good impact socket, big ratchet an about a 2 foot piece of pipe also use some pb blaster, an idk if you'd have to take tank down or not but while i was waiting for a fuel pump "already had tank out" i did all the breaking loose of then nuts/bolts i hammered the one out and turn it around to were i or someone else can get the bolt out with the tank still in place. i did mine on level ground and i hammer blocks of wood in front and behind the tires "the side i was replacing" lower trailing arms, with jack under the rear pumpkin just enough for the tire to be off the ground slighty i unbolted the rusted out pieces of crap and hammer the new ones in there places cause the ones i got seem to be just a tad wider also the original bolts have a collar up near the head which i just got the grinder out an grinded just a tiny bit off so they would go threw the new trailing arms not a big deal at all.i did have to use a pry bar stick threw the hole to get bolt started also i put the arm on the rear first then did the front BUT i couldnt get hole to line up on the arm it was to far forward after prying on it for about 5 mins or so i noticed when i was prying the front tires were rolling just a bit so i pounded a block of wood behind the front tire and was able to pry it in place to get the bolt in it only took me about an hour to do both sides AFTER I GOT THE BOLTS/NUTS LOOSE

You do not have to drop the tank. use a grinder or saw and cut behind the bolt head. I could only get in a little bit, so I turned it and cut in from 4 sides. Then put the nut back on, and used a ratchet to snap the head off.
Then I replaced it with a new bolt.
