For my first gen 5.4L, I use a Wix 51515. It's larger than the Wix filter listed for this motor.

The 51515 is the same filter recommended for my 4.0L Explorer motor.

Simplifies my shopping.

Yea as long as you find out the thread size for the filter to match yours and however space you have avalible for a bigger filter on the car you can easily find a bigger replacement then

Yeah I have the thread size. I played around with it but did not get what I was looking for. It looks like I only have a few to choose from.

Yes that's about what I'm looking for. But mine is m22-1.5 thread. Not 3/4X16.

I'm still looking

reason for higher capacity/larger filter on a "stock engine" ? just trying to understand you can only go so large then you won't have the room to get your hand/tool up in there to get the thing off

Oil change and an added increase of oil volume on startup.

I will be taking black stone tests to see how it's all working.

Worth doing if you're running synthetic I suppose. With conventional I can't see it being worth it as the oil would still be your weakest link. The FL-820S has proven over and over again that it can run well past 5K miles. I've seen several posts on BITOG where owners posted up pics of filters that ran 10-15K and still looked good when cut open. This guy, for example, ran one for 7,480 miles and probably could have run it twice as long.
