Universal joints and long extensions are your friend. Several of each....
I have a plug socket with a u joint on it. That and one extension that happened to be the right length and I got them all but it was a nightmare. Having to do it twice because I flooded the thing with coolant by breaking the heater hoses off the heater core was a bummer. Then just the other day I fixed the heater hose issue because it's getting cold here and I spilled coolant on it again and had to do it a third time. I'm all set now. now all i have to do is gut the dash out again to put all of the vent plumbing back in and figure out why my blend door isn't operable.

them spark plug really didn't look that bad to me.beside the build up of grease and grime on em and btw there are a few vids on youtube showing how to fix blend door without ripping the dash out but if you got to repair other stuff then muss well try to fix it the right way i guess that is if you got the cash to do so.

Well I have pulled the dash out to swap in an '04 navigator dash anyway...the blend door itself isn't the issue. I replaced the blend door already it is now the actuator that isn't functioning. Since I removed the radio amplifier. It is not impossible that there is a blown fuse but Haven't checked yet.
