I torn into my E-brakes today only to find rust problems which makes me ask a few questions.
First, my rear dust shields are rotted. Dr-side might be ok but Pass-side is shot. Unfortunately, the cover holds those little anti-rattle clips for the pads. Otherwise, I would not care about them. I only put about 3K miles on this truck per year. Usually, in good weather.
Questions:
Are those clips necessary? Are the covers necessary? (just hoping)
Does anyone know the Dorman part # for the replacements?
Does anyone know where there is a good video on how to replace those things?
Do I have to pull the axle?

Thanks,
Marty

Hi Marty,
I just read your post so I'm not sure if you already have this taken care of. I just did my breaks this weekend in addition to doing my breaks I also replace my rear wheel hubs. I figured since I was there it was only four more bolts. You don't need to pull your axle but you will need to press the axle out of the hubs and remove the hub. Mine was a bit tough because it was rusted in there but a little bit of penetrating oil and some time and I was able to pull the hubs off.
