Hello Everyone!
I've been a long-time member of the Ranger and Explorer forums. I'm now considering buying a 2001 Expedition - in great shape, with very low mileage. Problem is, I need a lot of space in the rear of the vehicle, and I won't buy it until I can find out how to remove the 3rd-row seat.
Is it a simple procedure that has escaped me or is it too involved to deal with - or not even possible?
Thanks in advance for any help

It removes easily. Fold the seat back down (forward) and lift up the metal bar across the rear of the base and pull back. It should roll backwards up and out of the locking track in the floor that it sits in. Remove seat through the rear tailgate.

Or some variation of that. It's pretty easy.

The seat itself is fairly heavy.

Welcome to the Forum

As Tom said its easy

But on the 2nd gen expy the rear seat folds down and also the second row folds But what is better is that they fold flat where is on the 1st gens the 2nd row doesn't fold completely flat compared to the rest of the rear floor

Thanks! I'll head to the dealership and give it a try tomorrow. The "instructions" on the 3rd-row seat explain how to tilt it into a vertical position and lock it in that position, but there's no mention of removing the seat altogether. It's probably addressed in the owner's manual, but it's missing from this used car.
I wish there were a middle 2nd-row seat so everything would fold flat and level, but I can make-shift something to fill that gap.
Thanks again, Tom and AKA!
