Just had timing chains, phasers, tensioners, oil pump, VCT solenoids, and coils replaced on my 2006 Expy about 6 weeks ago. A couple of weeks ago it started rattling on start up. Sounds like tensioners may be bleeding pressure off. I'm using Motorcraft 5W-20 oil and filter. I can't think of anything else that would cause the noise. Any ideas? If I have to take it back to the repair shop somebody's gonna have a bad day..

Thanks

I've read about people having the cam phasers "fixed" only to have noise again shortly again....

I'd let the shop say what the problem is, see if it's something they fixed.

It's a different noise than I had before repair work, but with everything that was replaced its a little baffling. I did change to Motorcraft oil/filter and still doing it. I think it's going back to shop. Thanks for the feedback.

^Bump^ I took truck back to the shop and tech claims I have a valve train issue not timing chain related. I had the same noise from a old 4.6 I had when chain tensioners failed, I kinda think he just doesn't want to mess with it again. Not recommending him to anyone.

Sounds like you need to call consumer affairs. If your 100 percent sure they screwed up, don't let them try to weasel out. Don't spend all that money, just to have to plunk down more. That's what I'd do at least.
