I have an 05' XLT 4x4, no air suspension. I bought it 3 1/2 years ago, and it was sagging then. I measured the distance between the tire and the fender. It's about 5 1/2 inches in the rear, 8 inches in the front. What were these from the factory? It seems to ride fine, but I'm guessing you'll say to install new springs first. Have any of your had luck with the front & rear spacers? It'd be. nice to have a few extra inches. I occasionally take it out in forest service/logging roads. Any help is appreciated!

I don't see any way a stock 2nd gen would have 8" between the top of the front tire and the fender. That sounds like how mine was when I had 2" level in the front and nothing in the back. Would you mind posting a picture?

At any rate, it can easily be fixed. Check ebay for strut spacers in the height you need. Also, the amount of lift provided by the front spacer is roughly double it's thickness. In the rear the amount of lift a spacer provides IS it's thickness.

I agree about the spring isolator being stock, but it looks like it has a spacer installed on the top of the strut. Probably 3" of lift if I would guess, spacer measures roughly 1.5". Generally the second gen expeditions have equal gaps from Ford, front and rear. You can also tell by the angle of the upper control arm that it's been lifted.

That's how all of the stock ones I've seen sit. You could level it out with a spacer in the rear.

Thanks for the help! I wonder why they lifted the front? From what I can tell, the previous owner was a soccer mom. The only modification was an iPod input unit...

No problem! As for lifting the front only, the second gen expedition stock have lower ground clearance in the front than the rear, it could have been a purely functional mod for the owner to do.
