Just bought a 2005 expedition XLT 107,000 miles and I have two issues that need to be fixed.

Issue one: My 4X4 high and low doesn't not seem like it is working.
When key is turned on 4x4h and 4x4l lights come on and then turn off.
When switching from 2wd to 4wdA I hear a faint click but no more clicks as you turn the switch to 4wdH and 4wdL. No lights come on the dash to say that it is in 4x4. All the fuses that I can see to be associated with 4wd are good. It seems that the vacuum system is working as when you switch from 2wd to 4wdh the hubs lock into the half shafts.(checked with front jacked up and truck running and spinning wheel). Any ideas on what could be the issue?

The other issue is I have no washer fluid to front or rear and the rear wiper is not working. All fuses are good. When front or rear buttons are pressed no voltage is going to the pump. Are there relays somewhere. My front wiper works but the rear wiper does not.

Im lost and don't want to just throw parts at it. Need it fixed soon.

Thanks
Brian

Welcome to the Forum

Glad your smart enough to ask for help and wise enough not to just throw parts into it with the hope of finding the problem.

Now very important question for you What fuses did you check and how did you check them??

4x4 issues I check fuse 30, 103, 115 and all good.

Washer/wiper issue I checked fuses 38 and 113 and all good.

I used an ohm meter for all to check.

Ok ohm meter is ok as it will show the fuse is good But how do you know if you had voltage present??

For your wipes front and rear check for voltage thru the fuse.
Check the following fuses 113, 38 and 1 have the key in the run or acc. position.

If your unsure on how to check for voltage while the fuse is in the fuse block let me know. Not saying this to insult you but many people have no idea as how to check the fuse when its in the fuse block.

I will get back to you on the 4X4 system

Both issues fixed Washer/rear wiper issue caused by the rear wiper harness un pluged i assume because the wiper arm was stuck. Freed the arm up n all works.
The 4x4 i disconnected battery then reconnected it. When i turn the switch still nothing so i left it in 4x4 high n went underneith and hit the motor with hammer soft and it shifted. Took for a test drive n work in high n low.
Will most likely have to change the motor down the road but works for now.
Bedrck47 thanks for the help.
