Was running fine yesterday will not start today

I have a 2000 Expedition 4.6 l V8, 185000 mil, I drove all day yesterday no issues got in and out several times and it cranked right up, got in today to go to the store and nothing, it will turnover but not crank?

Any help?

Spray starting fluid in the intake and start. If it wants to run, then you have a fuel related problem.

I guess what I meant to say is the starter will engage but does not start.

As was suggested Try spraying some starting fluid into the throttle body and see if it attempts to fire up Just spray a little bit.

Or get a fuel pressure gauge and see what fuel pressure you have at the fuel rail.

Had the same problem last week, found the battery was dead. Quick replacement and Voila... Quick diagnosis: when i pressed the lock button twice to engage the security system, instead of a "chirp" as stated in the manual, i got a "grunt". Battery level indicator was showing slightly low voltage than normal but was not zero. Same symptoms - starter was energizing but the engine would not crank.

Bedrck47, I tried the started fluid in the throttle body and it started up, turned it off for a few min's and tried again, no joy, sprayed more started fluid and still no joy. So I guess I will be dropping the tank this weekend and changing out the fuel pump, any lessons learned before I get too far on this job?

Qatarguy, Thanks for the tip but that is not it, I replaced it about 2 months ago when I replaced the alternator.

I would check for voltage at the pump just to be certain

Before you drop tank to change pump, do as bedrck 47 says and check for power at inertia switch, that is in passenger side kick panel inside vehicle. Obviously check reset switch first, then power. If you've got power, then it's timeyo get dirty.
