So after I installed the lift I took it to an alignment shop to get an alignment done. They said they couldn't align it because both of my lower ball joints were shot. They did both ball joints, alignment, parts and labor for $285 out the door. I called around and from what other shops told me I feel like I got a great deal. The ole expo is riding better than before I even lifted it!

You got a great deal. The pirates at a shop here in Daly City quoted me $700.00. The ironic part is my ball joints weren't worn out. I declined, and thank goodness I did. Yours was a home run!

That's what I was hoping to hear. Very nice people at this shop and from what they did for me I would definitely recommend anybody in NE alabama to go there. Now it's time to save up for tires. I'm wanting to run either a 33" or 35" MT on the stock wheels. Anybody got suggestions?

You know I looked up labor for this job, it said $230 to $275.00. Four wheel drive might be higher. Your guys charged what others are supposed to. If they included parts and alignment, that was a very fair price. It's sad theirs so many dishonest people in the automotive/ truck business. Part of it nowadays is the astronomical rents these shops have to pay greedy landlords. Charging above what a particular job calls for, is necessary for them to keep their doors open. Sad, real sad. Here in the Bay Area we have the highest rents in the Nation.

Greetings- new to the forum, but figured I would chime in with some questions rather than start a new thread. I have a stock 2005, and looking at the 3/2 just like you did AlexNorton. Having some issues deciding on what tires to run on stock rims(or get new rims). I was curious if anyone had an photos of a Gen 2 with the 3/2 and 285/70/17 tires on stock rims? Sounds like people are able to put the 285s onto 7.5 rims without issue- does anyone out there run 33x10.5r17 by any chance(since they are about 1" thinner in width?)

Stock size rims are 17x7.5 (someone correct me?) and how well or would it even fit say a 35 tire because of width issues? From what I gather so far the diameter is not the issue that causes the rub but the width?

Now you're all set for some 35's!

Additionally wondering if you have more photos of your truck MrBlargMan - and details on the tire/rim size you have there, plus other suspension mods (apologies in advance if you have this posted elsewhere on the forum)?

Perhaps I am over thinking this whole thing........ thanks-

I just did more lift in the rear of mine, and now I see what you mean with getting things lined up. I used one jack to hold the car up and another to force the control arm in place so I could get the bolt through. A spring compressor is probably the way to go when lifting more than 2" in the rear of a 2nd gen exp.

Any photos? And what tire and rim size you are running? Thanks!!

I'll put some pictures up, it's nothing too exciting with stock wheels and tire size, 2" lift front and rear. Just enough to have respectable ground clearance without affecting drivability and ride quality. I would use larger tires but the 4.6 is already slow enough with the stock 265s.

Ahhh good to know.

Yea I was hoping to get some insight and photos from someone who has already done the 3/2 mod, and then what tires they went with and rim size. Its a bit of $ to spend on a hope and a prayer without seeing any particular truck I would like to emulate..... other than MrBlargMans's ha
