Hi,

I have bought 2017 Ford Expedition Limited a week ago. I have been noticing police siren like sound when I start the vehicle for 6-8 seconds then gone. I don't see any warning signs. I am planning to go service center over the weekend but if it is quick setting then wanted to avoid trip to dealer. Below is the video.

Any idea/thoughts?

I thought I was listening to an arcade game. If it wasn't like that when you first drove it home, then either there's some glitch happening or a little adjustment on settings is needed. Read the owners manual thoroughly.

Unfortunately, I don't have sound on my work computer (I had them build it to my specs) so I listened to it on my phone and recognized it immediately. That is the same ALARM sound (but MUCH softer)that my SLK Mercedes made when I had a issue with the separate power supply that feeds the alarm module. I took it to the shop and Mercedes replaced it under warranty. I'm wondering if our 2017 Expys have the same type setup with a separate power supply?

I'd give your salesman a call then speak to the service manager if he has never heard about this before.

I'll be real curious to hear the answer as I have a vested interest!

I have a 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4, purchased new.

The chimes are the vehicle's warning chimes that sound when various conditions exists (such as door open when shifted into drive, hatch or rear window open or ajar when shifted into drive, seat belts not fastened, etc. etc. etc.).

Do you have all the doors shut when you start the vehicle? Your video picture show various warning light illluminated - is the vehicle running, or are they going through the self-check when the vehicle is started?

The chimes will sound if you turn on the accessory feature and not start the vehicle. Do you enter the vehicle, step on the brake pedal and push the start button?

He is talking about the siren sounding thing near the end of the video. That's a new one for me as well. Try closing all doors and buckling up the belts before pushing the start button. That way you eliminate all the other sounds.

Thanks - I turned the volume up and listened again.

It sure sounds like an aftermarket alarm warning. I know that Ford has several accessory alarm items that can be added to the standard factory alarm system. Perhaps the dealer added one of the items (and didn't do it correctly)?

Well, I had MY salesman call me last night to see if I was enjoying my new truck (like anyone driving a brand new truck would hate it?) so while he was on the phone, I ran this by him since it was too late to talk with their SM. He had never heard of a siren from any expy, ever.

I know it doesn't really help but I figured every bit of info is good. I'm only slightly less curious to find out the cause than you are!!!

UPDATE: I went to the dealer yesterday and the technician could not figure out the issue. He said he needs to talk Ford Service Hotline and get back to me. Since being the weekend, it might take 2-3 business days to get an answer.

Thanks for the update....like I said, I'm real curious. I'm wondering if it's a relay that is issuing a "fail" condition. Kind of good that the tech didn't know either....gotta feeling that we're all going to learn something new!

Did you get an answer from the dealer?
