I installed a cheap Amazon light bar in the Expy. I mounted it high up in the grill, inside the highest grille slot. Bought their cheap wiring harness as well. Overall cost was around $75.

I had to do a little modification to the top of the grille to mount the bar and drill new holes in the brackets to fit. Works pretty darn well!

I mounted it high because of my experience with the wife's Explorer. On her 08 Explorer I mounted a 30" in the bottom grille between the fog lights. Its very bright but leaves alot of shadow on the road itself if the road isn't perfectly flat. I opted to mount higher to help reduce this "shadow effect".

I'd love to see how its mounted and just general pictures of it!

I have this 26" sitting in my garage I bought to install on the front of the EL.

I also bought that "bull bar" from ebay that is supposed to be "designed" to fit behind the front plate of the Expedtion. I doubt it, it is from China and I am sure is sold to be "designed for" every car. That said it is actually finished very well. But I don't see any hard mount points behind the front plate to secure it to...

I haven't looked to far into it as it has been cold and snowy out recently, but will look into it.

(please excuse my garage venison freezer)

I notched out the grill and mounted to core support, I wish it was a curved light to fit the shape a little betterIMG_20160423_181737477.jpg IMG_20160312_151257255_HDR.jpg

I want to do this exact same thing...what mounts did you use and where did you mount them to? Thanks...

I've got this project on my to-do list. I've got a cheap'ish 30" curved bar and was planning on putting it in the grille right above or right below the Ford oval. I mock-mounted it on the lower fascia and wasn't pleased with the throw at that height. I suppose I should get on this soon as winter is almost upon us. I don't even like doing oil changes when it gets into the low 20s.
