That's why I always have a backup pan at the ready. And with transmission drain and fill, those oversized hardware store cement mixing pans are a god send. I'm so glad my Expedition came from Ford with a drain plug.

Only the early ones came from Ford with a ready to drain, plug. Mine is 4r100. I believe Ford deleted the plug on 2002 models.

Summit Racing sells a remote fill / dipstick kit cost is just under $100 listed under Ford Mustang. I'm going to order one for our '16 Expedition.

With all the problems people have with flushes and fluid changes it seems you should just run your tranny until she blows and just replace it. I thought about taking mine to the dealer for a fluid change but I read a lot of horror stories. No thanks I'll just wait until it's time rather than speed it up

Hello LBV, did ypu purchase the Summit Racing dipstick kit? and did that work?

Not yet, but I heard the one for the F150 fits the Expy better. I have to do a little more research. Only have 7K miles on the '16 so not in a hurry but I want to install that and a oversized pan to increase the oil capacity and with heat sink ribs for better cooling.

I had to replace the electrical bulkhead on my 07 and used a conglomeration of swivels and extensions to access the rear bolts on tranny pan. If you remove most of the bolts, leaving some loosened on the back corner, the fluid will drain out one of the front corners with little mess. Make sure which trans you have as they use different fluids. Google is your friend.

Either change all the fluid or don't change it. How clean is your dirty dish water if you dump half of it then add clean water? It is still dirty, just not as dirty.
Same idea as rebuilding an engine with used parts....

I would tend to disagree. I have been doing this for years. I just to it way before the recommended mileage.
