Hello all...
Just joined this forum...
I bought a 99 Expedition with problems...
There is a hole in NO 3 piston so I need to pull the engine DOOH!
This will be the first Gen 1 pull for me so I would like the procedures please...
It is 4WD...
Is there any how to pull engine threads here that I can get info from?
Thanks, Steve

I am about to attempt the same process. And will be doing a lot of praying myself.

I did it in January, 98 4.6. you will need a decent engine crane. One that will lift quite high or an overhead hoist. A load leveler is almost mandatory. The crane I used was a 2 ton harbor freight. It lifted several inches higher that the one ton. It was fairly straight forward. Remove the hood, unhook exhaust, unhook transmission lines and power steering lines from steering box, remove intake, unhook ac and heater hoses. Unhook starter, ground wires, vacuum lines and unplug sensors. I removed the top transmission bolts with the intake off and the others with a long extension. A lot of access can be gained by removing the fender well liners. If you can't lift the engine high enough to clear the radiator support, you may be able to remove the front wheels and drop the front of the truck with a floor jack. Mine was lifted with 33 inch tires so we just put the stock 17 inch wheels back on and dropped the front. It was tedious. Put bolts in bags labels from winch they came and don't be afraid to take pictures or videos to remind you or use google. Three people took mine apart and out, two were sixteen year boys were sloppy labeling and organizing things that were removed. I put the jigsaw puzzle back together again myself. Still running thankfully. Feel free to ask any questions if I can help.

Height can be gained by taking front tires off and lower truck to ground. Supported by jack stand on the frame between doors and fenders.
