Hi, I have a 2004 Expedition Eddie Bauer with the 5.4. It started like a jumping a couple of months ago and I started doing research and believed it to be the coil packs. I ordered all new coil packs installed them and it runs worse than it did. It was only doing it while in gear now it does it while idling. I unplugged each pack one at a time and checked the injectors as well and the idle got worse as I unplugged all but one and that was #8 pack. I changed it out with one of the old coils and now it only does it while in gear. This doesnt make any since to me. Anyone got any ideas thanks

Yeah... Hi to you too Josh, quite the introduction there, anyways whats the mileage on the truck, how long have you owned it for and do you know of its sevice record? How did you "check" the injectors??

Which coils did you buy?
How many miles are on the spark plugs?
Has truck been sitting for a while? Bad gas?
When was the fuel filter changed?
Has the injectors ever been cleaned?
Any check engine lights?

Possibly you bought the cheapest set of coils and in this world it's a "you get what you paid for"
In my opinion here's a good break down on coils
Accell coils = good (hit or miss)
MSD coils = better
OEM ford = best
