Ok, this morning the dash board stopped working, gauges and ses light, and the windows and wipers stopped working after the needles all looked like the wipers for 3 or 4 seconds. Then, everything was fine for about 10 minutes this afternoon. Now, the power in the dash is flickery and the truck stalls after starting. It's our only vehicle, need any suggestions and help!

What condition are the battery posts & terminals in?

Check the grounds behind the kick panels for rust and corrosion on the terminals.

Terminals are clean. All is rust free inside. Slight edit. Speedo and tach are flat lined and odo has dashes across it with the theft light flashing when I can get it running. WTF! original info was what my wife told me.

Start with the basics:
Battery voltage at rest
Battery voltage running
Charging voltage with heavy load on the electrical system (high beams + blower fan(s) on high + wipers running)

Sometimes what you are describing occurs with a failed or failing alternator. Those are easy to check so I would start the t/s there.

Maybe this will help explain. Not alt problem. Power is 13+ no matter what is on or off.

Drop the lower dash cover and inspect the connectors to the various components. Pull the headlight and dimmer switch out also for inspection. Push in all connectors to make sure they are not loose. You are concentrating on the ground wire for the instrument cluster.

I would want answers to Stamps post #4 before offering any opinions. I would also ask what is the battery voltage while all this craziness is going on. Are you saying its 13v? Are you getting that off a voltmeter hooked to the battery? I would also ask for cranking voltage

my bet its a bad connection someplace. but thats an opinion that I said I would not offer ;)

Ok. I'll check it tomorrow when it's not monsooning. Thanks. Wife went thru a puddle an hour ago and all electronics in the dash went pinball machine style.

Try to connect a ground wire from battery negative to a clean area in the truck's body and see if fixes your problem.

Have you confirmed the voltage at the battery with a multimeter with Key OFF and Engine Running ?

Dashboard voltmeters are not very accurate.
