The ambient lighting in my 2017 expy limited is not critical for anything but it is just nice and creates a great atmosphere. This works in the cup holders and passenger side, but has never has worked on the drivers side. I have had it in 4 times... yes 4 times with this issue. The latest time was a three day hold where I was given a loaner. Even after communicating with the Detroit engineers, the repair comes up short. The service people talk to me with their tails between their legs, rightfully so.

I mean just how difficult does this need to be?? Has anyone else had this issue with the ambient lighting? As mentioned, this is not a critical system, but is nice. I want it to work as it should on an expensive "limited" trim level.

The ambient lighting is controlled by settings in the Sync3 menu. It gives control of color for the lighting. I have personally gone from green to red to the service department with this issue....!!!:banghead:

Gee Nev, I never really noticed it on the drivers side...I guess I haven't been paying attention. I'll try to see if it's on tomorrow morning since I leave my home before daybreak....

jeff

EDIT: Per the website:

LEDs light up the front and rear footwells, front center console bin and front two cupholders

I guess I should check to see if all work front and back!!!

I never checked the footwells. I know it changes the cupholder to a nice blue that I selected. I'll try to remember to look at it tonight.

Thanks guys. The service people told me the engineers are searching for other 17's with that same problem. Apparently there are few. I feel so special that I got one!!

The wiring diagrams show that it is part of the Courtesy Lamps Circuit and is available in the following areas:

Left footwell
Right footwell
Rear footwell
Cupholder

Which group isn't working?

left footwell, drivers side is what I read

My front cup holder wasn't working very well, got it replaced under warranty
Possibly just the light/bulb itself?

Thanks swamp. No, the first attempt was the bulb. Something wrong with a connection is what they said. I believe second or third visit resulted in a flashing bulb for the drivers side foot well. Replaced harness etc. and still no clue. This is quickly getting surreal.

I am in Finland now for a geologic field trip reviewing the mines and geology of Finland. This trip is with both industry people and grad students. Exhausted after a long flight. The students did a great job planning this trip but for sure will wear us older guys out quickly. I will have email so please check your ambient lighting to see if it all works right. I appreciate all the input from you guys.

Okay I went out to the truck just now. When I change the ambient lighting settings the footwell colors change according to the color selected on the screen.
