Good Day all,

I am needing to replace the tires on my 08 EB standard length 4x4. I found a good deal on some new-take-off Michelin LTX tires with less than ten miles on them. Could probably get into a set for around $600 plus install, if I move quickly. Here's the thing: they are load range 114. From what I understand that's around 2600 lbs per tire. So will these be acceptable? I never tow anything and have no plans to start, but what is on there now are load range E tires, and I am a bit concerned about a tire with a lower rating having more "flex" or "squirm" on the road.

Any Input?

I wouldn't go any less of a load rating than the OEM. I would ASSUME the tires would be safe to operate since you NEVER tow, but I would also tend to think heavy braking or hard turns (even fun, twisty roads) would give more of a spongy / aircraft carrier feel to the Expy. I've never complained about driving with heavy load tires.

I just double checked my OEM tires (Hankook Dynapro AT-M 275x55R20) and they are 113T tires. I'm pretty certain my '17 have a GVMR of 7,500 pounds.

The load range varies on Gen 3 based on OEM wheel diameter
113 on 17's
112 on 18's
111 on 20's

So if I run 114 on 18" I should be as good or better than factory....hmm. Might have to go for this..

The gross vehicle weight is 7500 lbs. you have four tires that combined will handle 10400 lbs. I'm running Firestone Destination A/Ts rated at 2403 lbs combined total of 9612 lbs on a 17 EL that I don't tow with and they work just fine.

Well got them ordered. Ad says they came off a Toyota tundra so I'm thinking they'll be just fine on my rig. Time will tell. Now hopefully we can make it to northern Idaho and back on the old tires, since these won't be here till after we leave....

You'll be fine. But just remember that you have to inflate them to the max cold pressure on the sidewalk to get the full load rating. But since you don't need that you can play with pressure to get a ride/handling feel you like. I wish I could find a deal like that!

Yeah one of my local tire shops quoted me over $1,100 for the exact same tires. I figure even if they don't go quite as long as E range tires, I'll still be money ahead. This will be the first set of Michelin tires I've owned. Heard a lot of good things about them.
