So I MAY have a leak somewhere in the air suspension, but the truck doesn't drop at all. When the pump kicks on, it just sounds terribly weak... Occasionally I hear a hissing sound in the back cabin when driving- and not usually at the same time as the pump kicking on (whether im driving, its sitting running or sitting off). Im getting another one in 4/5 months (fingers crossed) but don't want to leave someone with issues, as I may even end up giving it to my father. Its an 08 with 282K on it...

The pump is underneath the passenger side headlight housing. FordTechMakuloco has a video on replacing it on youtube somewhere..

Grew up a GM family... my first Ford was a Contour SVT. Loved it, but traded back to family loyalty and bought 4 more GM's until they all almost made me broke. Bought a Taurus- 200k in 4 years, gave to my brother as his GM kept sh!tting the bed, made it to 278K before he totaled it in a guardrail. My 03 Explorer hit 278K before I sold it- needed an Expedition and was getting rusty underneath- but not on the body.. 282k on this Expedition and the only things I've done have been multiple wheel bearings, 2 tune ups (1st was expensive) and a starter... All of the Ford mentioned above were orig drivetrains btw. I just posted a thread asking about the 15'+ years. Got an EL as a rental when the started went a few months ago and loved it. I would buy it all over again, and hope that the new one will be similar. I have 3 cars, and average 40-50K between the 3 of them. I'm a realtor and firefighter so I run my truck pretty hard too..

I replaced the air compressor on my 05 at about 130K. The system didn't have any leaks, it was all air suspension and it used the kneel feature when you opened the door s the front would lower to make it easier to exit, so it was constantly pumping up and letting air out. Once I replaced the air compressor everything was good. Self leveling suspension will periodically adjust itself and you may hear air escaping.
