Anyone here using the JMS Boostmax? http://www.jmschip.com/boostmax-performance-for-ford-ecoboost/

I emailed them and they say on 87 Octane you gain 40 horsepower and approx 40-45 ft lbs of torque. If you remove the unit then it cannot be traced because it leaves no footprint in the ECM.

If you use 93 octane you can see increases of up to 60 horsepower.

I have a brand new Never installed one sitting in the box in my Dining room. Bought it for the 15(Totaled), never had a chance to install. Never installed it in the 17, and I have been testing the Hypertech for about a month now(More on that later).

The install requires you running a cable through the firewall, not hard, but not exactly easy to remove every time you go to the dealer. Also, while it does not rewrite or change parameters in the ECM, a good tech can tell beyond a shadow of a doubt it was there.

My thought was that if I used a tuner like Hypertech, the dealer can tell how many times you have flashed the computer thus voiding your warranty. While the tech might have a good idea about the JMS unit, I think it would be hard to prove.

Like my lawyer told the police, "It's not what you know, it's what you can prove!". :D

OH, I get it. Hence why I purchased it in the first place.

Their website isn’t working.

Please let us know if you get this and install it. I agree and don’t think it will be an issue concerning the warranty if it’s removed prior to a visit.

But.... with that said there was a comment made by someone on here a while back when the tuner subject was brought up and he said the ECM records over boost scenarios. Not sure where he got this info as if I can remember correctly he provided nothing to support this claim. Maybe Loki can chime in and see if that’s the case.

I know in some diesels ( my 6.4 for example) if you over boost them you’ll get a intermittent CEL and the ecm will store a code.

That was me, and I have seen it in person. Not on the Expedition, but F-150’s and older Diesels like the 6.0, and 6.4. Never played with the 6.7, but I expect it is the same.

Some of the sensor data is stored in the actual module that controls that function. It is not erased with a standard DTC clear. Maybe FORSCAN could though.

im sure the computer stores it. Put some miles on and run it out of warranty and you don't have to worry about it.

Also voids warranty

Blah, Blah, Blah.

I have never owned a vehicle that was not tuned or modded. I HAVE NEVER had an issue with a Warranty claim. Be respectful to the dealer, and pick a good dealer and you will never have any issues.

Can any Tuner void your warranty, Yes. Likelihood , Slim.

I put one in my 2016 Expy EL, pretty easy to do. Has a knob to control the performance - can be set from 0 to 100% increase. I used to keep it at 100% but got some crappy 93 octane gas once and when I stomped on it, had some knocking. I now keep it at around 75% and always run at least 92 octane. Seems to be working fine with that. It really "hits" hard when you get on it! JMS literature says 89hp improvement with 93 + octane at 100% setting. You can feel the difference with this and as others stated, it can be removed easily.
