I just picked up a used 2015 EL Limited yesterday replacing my 1998 Land Cruiser 100 Series. The Land Cruiser was triple locked, had some armor, and was the craziest beast I've ever owned. I traded it in with almost 300,000 trouble free miles on it for the Expedition. I have a 2 year old and another one on the way and just needed a bigger truck and I'm in love with my new-to-me Ford. I bought it for almost one main reason: It's the only huge SUV I could buy that explicitly states I can flat tow it behind my tour bus (I'm a career musician). It already has the Blue OX base plate installed and lighting harness too. Looking forward to a lot of fun years and miles in this beast. Has brand new KO2's installed. I have one very silly question for you. I noticed some others here have ambient lighting inside their cupholders but I didn't see mine doing this...is it a year specific thing? The rest of my ambient lighting works fine (footwells, etc). Am I missing something? Here are photos of the Expedition, my tour bus, and my former love the 100 series Land Cruiser:IMG_1221.JPGIMG_1252.JPGIMG_1257.JPG

Congrats on your expy, They are great trucks. Underrated. If you have the ambient lighting option I think it includes the cupholders, you can adjust those in syncs vehicle settings.

While not all 2015 Expeditions had the ambient lighting, if your footwells have it, your cupholders should as well. It was an all or none option. So you have an issue. I'm not sure where the plugs are offhand and don't have my truck, but it could be as simple as something got unplugged.

Ok I'll dig around today. It does appear to have the translucent plastic rim where the light should show. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

Depending on the mileage - if it's under 36K you're still under warranty. I would take it to a dealer to have it checked out under warranty. If it isn't under warranty you have to decide how important it is to you.

The cup holders light up the stripes that go around inside of the cup holder. as stated earlier you can adjust it in the Syn3 menu and you can update the Sync to the latest version of the software. And if you have an iPhone you can add the updated USB module in the center console so you can use Car Play apps on your main screen from your iPhone.

15’s have Sync 2 or the 4 quadrant System as people describe it. It cannot do CarPlay, no matter what hub.

Awesome looking tires. Welcome!

What do you have to do to flat tow it? Just put it in neutral?

From the manual:

Entering four-wheel-down towing
1. Put the ignition in the on position:
• If your vehicle has an ignition key, turn the key to on. Do not start the engine.
• If your vehicle has intelligent access, press the engine START/STOP button twice without pressing the brake pedal. Do not start the engine.

2. Press and hold the brake pedal.

3. Rotate the four–wheel drive switch to 2H.

4. Shift the transmission to position N.

5. Rotate the four–wheel drive switch from 2H to 4L and back to 2H five times within seven seconds.
• If completed successfully, the information display shows NEUTRAL TOW LEAVE IN N or NEUTRAL TOW ENABLED LEAVE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL. This indicates that your vehicle is safe to tow with all wheels on the ground.
• If you do not see the message in the display, you must perform the procedure again from the beginning.
• You may hear an audible noise as the transfer case shifts into its neutral position. This is normal.

6. Release the brake pedal.

7. Leave the transmission in position N.
• If your vehicle has an ignition key, turn the ignition as far as it goes toward the off position (it does not turn fully off when the transmission is in position N.) You must leave the key in the ignition while towing. To lock and unlock your vehicle, use the keyless entry keypad or extra set of keys.
• If your vehicle has intelligent access, turn the ignition off by pressing the engine START/STOP button once without pressing on the brake pedal. You do not need to leave your keys in the vehicle. You can lock and unlock your vehicle as you normally do.
