Fuses and brake-switch internals are first on my list! Thanks again.

Well, it might be fixed?!?! I pulled the brake switch, and 1 set of contacts looked slightly burnt, the plastic cover had evidence of a once hot spot as well where the dark contacts were. I cleaned all 6 contacts with 180 then 400 grit sandpaper and reinstalled. 2 turns of the ignition and the BRAKE light went away, but the ABS and traction control warning lights remained on. I ran errands, including 4 more stop/starts and the ABS and traction lights were still on.

Then I took a test light to both sides of all the fuses and found only 4 fuses that weren't on with IGN on (not running), but they seemed unrelated. Then when i crawled out from the passenger floorboard, the warning lights had gone away! I started the truck 2 times and the lights were still gone!

I'm hesitant to call it fixed because the error lights were non existent prior to last week, then intermittent Sunday & Monday, then constant from Tuesday on.. Could it really take 6 or more start/stop cycles (including 30 minutes or so of drive time) for the warning lights to go away?

Definitely. Or X number of brake pedal presses without a mismatch or suddenly drop in voltage, etc.

There are a number of things it looks at when setting/unsetting a DTC.

ABS and Traction control lights are back.. The Snap On Solus Pro scanner I borrowed shows engine performance & many other details, but when attempting to read ABS it says 'No communication. Is key on? Ensure scanner is connected' Full error message here YCm0EEi.jpg

I'm starting to wonder if the ABS module is going bad... Do ABS modules blow capacitors or other changeable (w/ solder iron) parts? I'll do a few more start/stop cycles to see if I can get the scan tool to connect to ABS again and maybe look for loose or visually damaged wiring coming from the module itself.. Any thoughts on next steps?

It's possible, without swapping in another, or dissasembling old one, tough call. With any electronics issue, you can follow from a to z on trouble flow chart, change out part that troubleshooting leads to, just to have problem exist. That's why theirs alcohol!

My 03 Eddie Bauer Expy had a ABS code when I bought it 3 yrs ago. I cleared the code and the Advanced Traction Control thru out the check trac control message. After doing some investigation into it I found out it needed to be reset. A mechanic I know has a high end Snap-On scanner and was able to rest it. I haven't had any trouble since. Not saying this could be your problem but don't overlook this potential.

Would you mind asking the mechanic what menu section to look for to reset the ABS? I borrowed a Snap-on Solus Pro, perhaps similar to what your friend is using. I am unable to communicate with the ABS/IVD unit from any option under the ABS menu, but even if I could I don't see an option to reset, only clear codes.

Bedrck has been helping me prep to chase circuits. Tomorrow or Saturday I'll check the ISO, SCP+, SCP- circuits between the ABS & OBD port, and ABS & PCM. My current line of thought is, if the wiring comes back good, that the ABS/IVD controller is shot & I'm going to make a last ditch effort to open it up and hopefully find broken solder joints or a blown capacitor to replace. But if you have a reset trick to try first I'm up for anything less intrusive than cutting open the ABS controller!
