Yeah prolly ditch the spacer

Btw, is the 4x4 strut really taller??? Or did you order Rancho coilover assemblies, cuz those DO have a builtin lift, but that aint about 4x4 vs 2wd its just an intentional product feature

when I removed the relaxed front strut and compared it to the new strut it was 2 inches shorter. I measured the new height to be around 5 inches taller. I may be mistaken about the 4x4 struts being taller vrs the 2 wheel drive but the numbers show i gained 5....look at my pictures. lol.

Could you post a picture of your front spring/shock assembly? Not sure a taller shock/strut would push the front end up like that... I would think it would just compress under the weight of the vehicle. The spring determines the ride height (excluding any sort of lift), right?

The reason I ask for a picture is because someone else had similar problems and in looking at the pictures he posted noticed he had his lower spring support installed upside down.

Do you know the part number of the strut assembly that was actually installed? That would help clarify and remove variables.

Is your tire on the ground? Your picture matches mine when the the suspension is fully extended with a 3.5" spacer on top. My upper control arm is up against the spring so isn't coming down any further. If you're tire's on the ground you have zero down travel. Like Frank was saying.. "Yikes".

Yes wheels are on ground in photos.

Went back and looked at options at AM- auto and also called ford, no difference in parts # between 4x4 and 2x4 and spacer measured 1 7/8. Got to be the control arms or spindle that's different in 4x4 and 2x4.

I highly doubt the UCA is different between 2wd and 4wd. I have no idea what you installed, again a part number would help.

If you like the lift then just install F150 aftermarket upper control arms made for 2-3 inch lifts. Tuff country makes a reasonably priced set that uses a ball joint for about $325. You can go uniball but the price doubles. I am considering this route with a 2 inch spacer and Bilstein 5100 shocks (again for F150) set at 2 inches lift for a total of 4 inches of lift in the front. Matching that lift in the rear is still unclear.

I have a 4x4 2011, and with replacement struts and my 3.5" hockey pucks, my control arm touches the coil overs. I am hoping that the original question is answered, do the f150 extended upper control arms fit. More importantly, what do I do now. I'm a little worried. Thought about buying a shorter front lift and replacing the control arms and ball joints to be safe. Advice, ideas?

It seems they would

I swapped out front upper control arms they were labeled as F150 and Expedition
