Sad, but NOTHING compared to the time a six pack of beer bottles crashed on the driveway. I was devastated. I always put groceries in the foot area of front seat and some on front seat. Pizza is more challenging as if put in the front seat the cheese all collect on one side of pizza ...

It is, and it's been fixed in the next-gen… kinda. The threshold where the tailgate latches now has a slope towards the front to keep things from rolling out as easily.

Not related to groceries, but I was a little shocked to find that the truck lacks any kind of D-rings or cargo tie downs.

I have a Husky rubber floor mat. But groceries, always go up front.

I got a small rug at Target that color matches and just fits the rear of my 2011 Exped. I also use a couple of those fold up baskets for really rolly stuff.

Wow I just read through 14 posts, and laughed at one. Why not get a couple of those adjustable poles that they use in pickup trucks for the same issue. That along with a net should do the trick. That's the logical way!

Yup, same thing here x2. My wife, bless her heart, did it a couple days before we traded in our 2017 and then she did it again the day after we got the 18. Poor pickles didn’t even see it coming. In her defense, our driveway slopes a decent amount. And for those wondering, of course I helped clean up the mess both times.

There is a lip but it doesn’t stop anything bigger than a soup can from rolling out if the truck is parked on an incline.

Had a WeatherTech cargo liner in our 14 and a HuskyLiner in our 17. Neither stopped things from rolling out the back.


I can say we are still way better off than the latest GM SUV owners though. Their rear platform is angled down so even in a flat parking lot, everything wants to roll out.

I had the same problem lost a gallon if milk to the driveway along with more expensive items so I installed a cargo net I bought off of Amazon. No issues since.

Here’s an idea, put all the shit that rolls or is glass (like gallon sized pickles, wtf why do u need this many??) against the third row seats and put the other crap in front to keep it from rolling out.

Another option, check out the all new totally redesigned rear lift window standard on all 2016 expeditions. This enables you to see what is up against the liftgate before you open it to guarantee that nothing will fall out bc all you have to do is push the button, move the stuff back, and then open the gate!

Proper packing will avoid all the troubles you are experiencing
