I have been having leaks in our 03 Eddie Bauer on the drivers side. I’ve had it leak out where the sun visor is screwed in but today a tremendous amount came out of the handle on the A pillar. Is there a tube that runs down the A pillar from the sunroof drain? If so I’m wondering if it is cracked or disconnected?

I had the SAME problem... drivers side mirror mount, and passenger side "oh shit" handle! There is a small orifice on the sunroof, when you have it open. One at the front left and one at the front right. I used my air compressor and a blow gun, 100psi and havent had a problem sisnce.

I'd probably try working some weed eater line down the drain before 100psi air blasts, especially if you have some blockage.

Bigger question is -- why is your sunroof glass panel leaking so badly? There are 4 drains, two front corners you can see as mentioned above with the panel slid all the way back, and two more at the rear of the trough which are difficult to see. Rears drain down the C-pillar and exit just ahead of the back tires. Is your sunroof parking in the correct location? Is the seal damaged?

If the weed eater line makes an easy exit, then it sounds like the drain tubes have come apart, deteriorated, or something and some interior disassembly work is probably in store. Or your leak is from another source.

I try to make it a point 1-2 times a year to tilt the moonroof glass up and clean the seal the best I can, then retract it and clean where it meets the surround, clean the leading edge of the seal, etc. Use either Mothers or Meguires (??) leather/vinyl/rubber product.

Can also try pouring a bottle of water into the surround when the roof is slid back and see if, how, and where it drains, then go from there.

I have to park with the rear on the downward slope so the rear drains seem to be working. I didn’t think of using weed eater string, I was thinking about using a guitar string.
Thanks for the help!

I spent time this weekend on the same issue. Weed-eater string works great, but I had to go one step further due to condition. My expedition has rusted out rocker panels, and dirt/rocks/acorns and more had gotten up into the rocker panel / body subframe where the front drain tubes release. I had to use a hose and clean out the 1" of grime in the subframe before the string in the drain tube would break through.

I used an air compressor with one of the little tips that is rubber so it would mate with the drain tube. I added a few cups of water to the tray so that I could see if it was working. I put air to it and held it there for a moment. Pulled the nozzle away from the drain tube and it made a sucking sound. I did this to all of the drains as I figured if one of them was clogged the others might be close. I used water for each of them so that I was pushing anything that was in the tube. The air might leak by something that is stuck in the tube.
