Got a 2006 Limited and the previous owner pointed out the front right seat doesn't go up/down or forward/back. The tilt back and lumbar work fine.

She didn't know why, but her boyfriend had changed the switch to the driver side. I assume maybe it wasn't working, and was an easy swap to check.

Are the switches in fact universal?

Other than swap parts back again to check, is there an easy way to confirm it is the switch? Or can it be torn apart for repair?

I did notice the plastic cover on the broken seat has one of the tabs broken off that holds it, so it doesn't sit tight. I may do a junkyard run if these parts are more universal so I could find a good used one.

Thanks,
Josh

Easiest way is call dealer parts, have them cross reference it. My drivers side stopped moving completely, mine was a blown 30 amp maxi fuse. Check the fuse/ relay first, probably is part of the switch failed, but always check the easiest first.

The switches are just switches, they aint smart or anything just buttons

Check if the connector under the seat is hooked up snug and the wires are intact

Thanks, that does help a little. I do have forscan now to look at it, but the test for that all runs ok. (Only shows an up/down mirror sensor fault, not surprising with how erratic the mirror adjustments and not total folding action is). Trying to figure out if any of the live data modes show a potential problem before breaking the plastic side cover further trying to get everything off.

Eventually all the electrical issues will be fixed, and I'm sure as I fix them, find a way to improve things to last at least another dozen years.
