Slightly less than a glowing review, but it is car and driver so cant expect any different.

Did anyone else catch this paragraph:
The Lincoln’s horizontal taillights add visual width. Unfortunately, its exhaust is hidden from view under the rear bumper on the passenger side, just as it is on the Ford Expedition. This may be a design choice or a cost-cutting measure. Either way, it’s an opportunity for the aftermarket: This thing begs for a couple of large chrome exhaust pipes.

What are the chances the Expedition will have the same issue as the Explorer, where the exhaust fumes seep up through the bottom of the vehicle and give the passengers carbon monoxide poisoning? Why not get the exhaust pipe out from underneath the vehicle? The exhaust pipe should be longer to get the exhaust out from underneath the vehicle.

Explorers exhaust comes straight out the back on all models.

The Explorers had a TSB issued to impacted customers to have a special coating added to the under carriage of the car. Different owners experienced different levels. My former had 2 exhaust pipes. Additionally after my auto accident, the entire system was replaced-didn't change the amount of the exhaust entering the cabin when the air was running whether it was fresh air or recirculated air (when you are accelerating and RPM's are over 3k). It was a design flaw that doesn't seem to be on Expeditions. Ran my air non-stop under various conditions and I no longer have the issue. I have over 5k miles on my 2018 Expedition and so glad those exhaust fume issue is no longer my problem.

I finally saw my first 2018 Expy at Chili's yesterday. It was a white platinum max and is a really nice truck. The only thing that may be overkill is the 22" wheels. The 20" wheels will ride better and also look very good. Just my opinion.

Interesting because the only GLS I would be interested in has an MSRP of $125K
Could get the EXPY & have Hennessy upgrade it with more power than the AMG GLS
would have over 10,000k lbs towing capacity instead of 7500 with a lot more power for $30 grand less
Now that is a much better choice

Exactly, it would cost me 90k to get the gls optioned up to my 301 ltd, and i dnt want my suv to be a sports car cuz i woulda got a sports car. My expy handles fantastic and much better than most anything the same size. If they did the compaison wit h the nav i wouldnt have an issue cuz they are direct competitors and even then a lot of people who cross shopped gave the nod the the nav as well.

I know the GLS is nice, but I think it pales in comparison to the Platinum. We have really racked up the miles on ours in the 7 weeks we have had it. Almost 6,000 miles. It is such a great truck. It has so much room. We have traveled 4 4-5 hour trip with an array of adults, kids and combinations of both. And it just works so well. Rip/slide seats are fantastic! I don’t see how they would be usable with a child car seat, but we don’t have young children on the mix. Maybe with the front seats way forward. But without car seats, they are fantastic! Rides so nice. Handles VERY good. Quick!! The 400hp/3.73 option gets this thing moving fast. I have hammered down with some boost pressure built and it will move!! It loves a little incline to put a little load on it. The turbos will whistle a little letting you know they are working. Tech is nice, minus the rear seat entertain to an extent.

I don’t think the gls has this much room. It may have other advantages, like resale value or maybe dependability, although that is not what I have heard. Now of course the AMG is a real beast and Mercedes V8s are no joke!!! But like mentioned it is another $40,000 on top of a platinum. I would personally choose a Hennesey Navi as mentioned over the AMG as well.

I have not had one single issue from the vehicle yet. Although I have my eye on something. I have a had a few hard down shifts between 5/4 or 4/3 I haven’t been able to really tell yet because it happens so quickly and randomly. maybe 5 times, and it catches me off guard. It normally happens while under acceleration then having to brake. I have noticed it three times on way to my house. You are accelerating up a 3-4% grade on a 2 lane road. At the top as you crest and go into a turn my road is on the right. So you would brake there naturally and even more if turning down my road. So it is in probably in 7th or 8th gear at maybe 45-50mph then you lbrake to turn, it shifts quickly down to 2nd or 3rd on its way, when it gets to 4th or 3rd you can feel it.

I am going to completely reset the computer and let it learn or driving habits from scratch again. It is my wife’s vehicle and normally driven very carefully and safely. I have been driving more than I ever normally will over the last month. I have really been putting it through its paces and have driven very spirited up here in the curves. I have been accelerating a lot from different speeds just to know how she performs. Really just kind of road testing it. So hopefully this will resolve it or it will have to go to the dealer, which I will not be happy about.

I get comments all the time on it. At the car wash, I have had several people asking to look at/in it. A guy in a pretty scat pack charger made me roll window down and said how nice it looked.

This will sound stupid putting on a forum, but I actually got "hit on" at a car wash. A nice looking women came up while I was quickly vacuuming the truck after running through the wash, she came over and said the truck was sharp and could she look in, that she had not seen one. I said sure. We were out of state for a b-ball tourney for my daughter, so her and 3 friends were in the truck. She saw the girls in there and said hey and looked around real quick, then said wow that is really big in there, look how much room! Then she turned around and said wow, a soccer dad, so is there a soccer mom? With my head barely fitting in the truck, I jumped in and got teased and giggles for the next 10 minutes. Of course my wife was told immediately by the girls when we met back up! She said, well what did you tell her? I said, I told her you were no longer with us!!! LOL

I definitely didn’t say that!

I've noticed the same hard downshift around 3/4, and I think in very similar conditions, breaking rather hard from speed.. Only once or twice so far, but your post sounds like my experience as well.
