2000 Eddie Bauer with the EATC and rear air.

I recently had the driver side lower dash taken apart to replace the turn signal relay. Turn signals now work. Coincidentally the front blower does not work at all. No positions (floor, vent, defrost...). The display of the EATC does work. I can hear things switching around as I select different positions.

Rear blower works fine.

I checked all the fuses related to the blower and EATC (with a meter). All check out.

I found this (old) thread:
http://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/01-eb-blower-motor-resistor-location.20963/

Anyone have experience with this? Apparently I don't have the easy to diagnose (and cheap to replace) blower relay. I hate just throwing money at a part hoping it fixes my issue.

Tom you could jump the resistor if you think it's bad, however just replacing the flasher, my guess is you crimped or popped a wire in there. Go back in take your time, and I'm sure you'll find it. Stamp or Bedrck can possibly help with testing to see if you did something to the resistor. I've got the 2000-02 CD, but no computer to play it. Report what you find. Moose.

I'm not sure I can jump the resistor- it's totally different than the 2 resistor module (or so I'm led to believe- haven't actually looked yet).

The 2 resistor module is like $20. The EATC module is like $160. And the $20 part you can test with a meter- not so sure about the EATC module.

Well the blower itself works. I jumped that straight to the battery.

I'm suspecting the blower control module. I need to see if I'm getting any power to that. The plug is not in an easy to get to location. I may actually remove the front passenger seat so I can lay on the floor easier.

I also ran the EATC self diagnostic test. I didn't get any codes.

Found this very interesting link:

If you go to his main page (linked at the bottom), there is a looooong list of similar articles and how-to's. It's for Crown Vic's, but they are pretty similar to Expeditions in some regards.

I don't seem to be getting any power to the blower control module. I rechecked all fuses and can't find anything.

I'm strongly considering divorcing the blower from the "automatic" portion of the HVAC. Ideally you can set a temp and the HVAC system will do what's needed to get to that temp- usually with the blower on at full speed. Once at that temp, it dials back the blower speed to maintain. I don't really use the automatic setting very often. And when I do, rarely am I in the truck long enough for the temp to reach the desired temperature.

My thought is to get a blower speed control knob from an XLT, the blower resistor, some heavy gauge wiring and wire up my own blower control. I'll leave the rest of my EATC HVAC system alone- I'll just have to control the fan speed myself. The humanity!

So stay tuned I guess.

Tom, try wiggling the cable to the module/ ballast resistor. Also I looked into my 2000 fuse diagrams, you've got fuse 5 in under dash box, fuse 7, fuse 22. Under hood you've got fuse105, and 114. Do all of those have continuity/ power?

I rechecked- all fuses are good.

Do you see any relays involved that might be in the circuit that could have gone bad?

Relay #2 in under dash box, try swapping out one next to it. Maxi fuses all good with power in under hood box that I named?

I didn't check power to the fuses, just checked that the fuses are good.
