Is there a way to clear the codes without a scanner and without disconnecting the battery on a 2003 Ford Expedition? My scanner that I used last weekend has gone missing/stolen out of my vehicle.

Also since I have to buy a new one. What do you guys think of this? I'm trying not to spend much on one.

Well this is technically with a scanner, but if you stop by an auto parts store they can clear codes with their scanner. But otherwise, without a scanner you'd use the battery disconnect method.

That one should be fine. If you have an android phone I use Torque with a Bluetooth adapter. They run about $20, stay away from the super cheap Chinese knockoffs.

Thank you. I'm still going to get one but it seems driving it for a good distance (80 miles) seems to have let it see the problem was fixed and after stopping at the store and starting again the check engine light was now gone. I've heard of vehicles clearing after driving for a while and noticing it was fixed. Do they do that on the expedition?

They actually do that on all cars that are OBD2, I heard somewhere that between 50 and 80 miles it goes away after it is restarted? I dont know that for sure, but have heard that from alot of people...
