Was fishing all last week at Wellesley Island SP. Staying at Cottages on Eel Bay, but I slept in my Expy every night. One night I went out at midnight to crash & after settling into bed, the interior lights wouldnt go off. Made sure all doors closed (YES) then cycled door lock using button inside front door and ... THE THEFT ALARM stays going off HONKING. Middle of cottage area, midnight! Display says start vehicle to silence, but keys are in the cottage somewhere!! So I run in and try to find them, took a while. Eventually alarm HONKING stops. I'm sure I woke up a LOT of fishermen.

My question is ... is there any way to configure vehicle so this GD honking never happens? I'd be glad to take my chances against theft if I could be sure the dang vehicle never HONKS like that. I hate that.

PS - river was 49 degrees, not great fishing but they were killing perch and bullhead in bays. There were a lot of meat fishermen up there getting hundreds of perch and bullhead for summer fish fry's. We had some luck with bass in Lake of the Isles (out of season) which was 62 degrees. Couple Pike, few Rock Bass & Sunny's.

Something sounds fishy here......

Why would your theft alarm / horn system activate when you locked the vehicle?

Have you read your vehicle owner’s manual?

Don’t want to open a can of worms here (ha ha) but I’d unplug both horns in a situation like this. Or disconnect your battery cable for the night? Just trying to keep it reel. (Ha ha)

Yes, read the manual. Could not find a way to disable.
Is there a way to disable that?

I found the rear liftgate window had been unlatched earlier using keypad on door (hit 6 or something after unlocking and I heard it click but didnt relatch it). So, later that night is when it happened. It honked for 10 minutes or so and then stopped ... so I didnt have to disconnect battery.

I might have disconnected the horn but that was over my head.

It was fishy. I was lured into this situation , no way to tackle it.
I didnt know "egg-sack'ly" what to do. Felt like a bAss.

Pretty simple solution. When inside of your locked vehicle, take a key...

Well, I fell for this post hook, line and sinker.......

I guess once you locked your self inside the vehicle, the alarm system activated and there was no way to disable it without a key fob to unlock the vehicle.

You’ll tell this story many times over - and I’ll bet the length of the horn honking gets longer each time.

Good luck!

I'm gonna have to throw this one back. No way to mess with the anti theft alarm PATS feature (that I can find). I did learn a few things though, like the interior lights will go off by the Battery Saver feature after 10 minutes if the liftgate glass is unlatched. I also finally found the adjustment behind steering wheel to adjust interior light brightness (and OFF).
