Ok. I know I've been asking a lot of questions. But it's all a learning experience for me and I really appreciate you all taking the time to answer.

When I turned in the blower in my vehicle it made loud rumbling sounds when on. I listened and found it was coming from the blower motor area. So today I removed the blower and left it plugged in and turned it on. It was wobbling as it spun. (The fan that is) I took the fan off of the motor and looked at the motor. Everything seems fine. I can lift a bit at the point of it, hearing something lift some insure the motor as well . Not sure if this is normal or not. (Pointing to what I'm talking about in the first picture below) Secondly I saw this after removing the fan from the blower. (It seems to be a crack in the center of the fan.) This could throw it off balance and cause the sounds right? Motor might not be the problem? IMG_20180503_100234.jpg IMG_20180503_100137.jpg

Nevermind. Can disregard post and delete. I plugged the motor in without the fan on it and it still sounded louder than it should be.

You are pointing to the armature shaft in the first pic, second pic is of the fan blade or as we ol timers call it a squirrel cage.

Yeah, I could lift the armature shady up and down a bit. Does that mean anything? I know I need a new motor. Just curious if that is a sign.

For sake of issues later, just get a blower motor and fan assembly from rock auto... Put it back in, and no more troubles.

Yeah. That's what I did. Figured since it was only 15 dollars more for the whole setup, why not get it and get rid of all possible problems.

You'll learn as you go along, that replacing parts as a complete unit is just common sense. If you have time, and diagnostic experience you can in reality change just the failed piece. An example would be an alternator for your charging system. If you knew, and could get parts you could replace the diodes that fail, or carbon brushes. But most, even experienced mechanics throw on a new or reman part. Rebuilding worn/broken parts is becoming a lost art. Sadly we're in a throw away society.
