As a side note, the 5.0 is a turd for towing, it has to scream (and is designed to do so) at 4k+ rpm to pull a load in the mountains. I actually traded in my 2012 5.0 F150 for a 2010 5.4 which was day and night better towing in the same circumstances and ran cooler transmission temps as well. I owned the 5.0 for 3 years and went through 3 different trailers in that time so I'm not just making this up.

I am surprisingly getting 1-2mpg better towing and unloaded with my ecoboost than the 5.4 (about the same as I got with the 5.0) and I drove both vehicles conservatively. The eco sure makes for a stress free pull though, after a minute or two of hearing your motor turning 4k rpm in 2nd gear (with the 5.0 motor, converter unlocked and building heat fast) it starts to get to you and despite its design, feels like it's going to explode. The 5.4 purred along at 3500-4k and was far more enjoyable. Just not as much as the eco.

I don’t understand the driving an ecoboost then not considering anything else. I’ve driven them on many occasions and it has never changed my opinion.

So the way you feel about a truck is the way all of us should feel. Why is it so hard for you to accept the fact that we think the Ecoboost is a better engine and a better performing engine than the 5.4? I don't get why you insist on arguing or insist on trying to change peoples minds. Coolzzy owned a 5.4 and thinks the 3.5 is better yet you seem to think he doesn't know what hes talking about.

Get over it dude

Why does it upset you so that some of us like our 5.4?
Ecoboost sounds to be a great motor, but you get your undies all bunched up whenever someone expresses delight with the larger 5.4 motor.
I'm truly happy that you like yours.....why can't you be happy that some of us like ours?
Different strokes (Literally...lol)...for different folks.
Peace out.

You’re barking up the wrong tree my friend and you have no dog in this fight. You won’t find a single post from me on this website where I dog on anybody that owns a 5.4 or give them a hard time if they prefer it over the ecoboost. On the other hand you’ll find post after post after post on here where guys with 5.4’s relentlessly hammer the Ecoboost.

Go enjoy your Memorial Day weekend and stop trying to drum up some drama

Why does someone who has been a member here only two months argue with people who have been members here for years? As a newbie I try to show some respect to others on here who have been here posting for years. Am I the only one who practices decent forum protocol?

This argument is a trip. Good gravy folks.

What are the 5.4 guys gonna do when their truck wears out? Eventually you’re gonna have to embrace the eco. That’s gonna be a weird day.

Like I said....touchy subject.
Expy is a great vehicle, no matter which motor you have.
Take care all....

Well ford still sells multiple platforms powered by V8 powertrains and has said that their V8 is not going away so there are other avenues. Hopefully the 5.0 makes its way to the expy. Not to mention you can rebuild your motor or get a new one at that. There is always options.

Beating a dead horse...it died, we buried it, it came alive as a zombie, we shot it in the head, for heavens sake let this thread die. It is useless dribble wasting server space and bandwidth.

You have one group stuck on their old slow motor that did a great job when it was new. They think that 2 more cylinders makes a motor superior. One uses one kill story to demonstrate his 5.4 is better. One!

The other group has embraced having 2 turbos to replace the 2 missing cylinders in their EB motor. They enjoy more torque, lower, and longer. With a tuner ridiculous power gains can be had. Thousands must be spent to get the same power gains out of the NA motors. That isn’t for everybody but is a factor for many of us.

Until the guys with the 5.4’s buy an EB powered vehicle and drive it everyday they won’t appreciate it.

Nobody is going to change their mind any time soon therefore making this thread absolutely useless.
