Pic I took on initial inspection of the vehicle from awhile back. The left side is the split kind of hard to see.

If you shine a light in the crack you can see the creme colored fabric of the airbag. Can’t tell how that portion may or may not be connected to the dash.

I just checked and mine is super soft and flexible. I know this is by design but even I was surprised at how soft and flimsy the panel appears on my 2015. Thanks for the heads up on this. I will not allow anyone in my passenger seat to mess with this or put their feet there. Yikes.

Looks like your dealer is going to be eating some freight cost shipping that big ole dashboard back to Ford. The good news is they'll have that airbag changed out in about an hour.

Dealer called after they started tearing apart the dash.
Those that were in the no whole dash camp were correct.
Just the airbag needs to be replaced. Which won’t be here until next week.

I didn’t think it would be different, the dash is largely the same throughout the 3rd gen, and the airbag looks exact. Glad it’s figured out!

Good. If not it would have went against my 20+ years of experience dealing with these as I have never seen or heard of such a thing before.

If anything stops working or anything is weird with your electrical in your dash you make them fix it until it’s exactly working the way you want it to. That is a major mistake

Does not really bode well for the dealers service department. I may have to re-evaluate further service there.

I do 99% of my own work so I have never used the dealers service department. Bought plenty of parts there but no actual service.
This rig has a lifetime power train warranty and for that to stay entact the oil must be changed every 5,000 miles and the scheduled maintenance must be performed by an ASE certified mechanic.
I had planned to use them because they are very close.
May look into an independent shop at least for the scheduled maintenance.
I have 14.95 works oil change and tire rotation coupons from this dealer. One would hope an oil change would not get too jacked up.
