An old Ford mechanic acquaintance of mine showed me this 1997 Expedition. He said he never saw a vehicle this old with such a great interior and paint. Only problem, the motor was wore out...after 327,000 miles, I could understand that. He went on to say it was a one owner vehicle, and was owned by a pharmaceutical salesman, who serviced all the stores of a major drug store chain up and down I-5 in the Pacific NW. He had all the original paperwork, including all the owners manuals, and the window sticker from the dealer where it was originally sold in 1997. He said he had ordered a brand new 5.4 from Ford, and after installing the new motor, would give me a good price. I told him put some GOOD 60,000 mile tires on it, new brakes, and go through it with a fine tooth comb (mechanically), and I would talk with him. He did all I asked, and $6500 later, I had a new/used vehicle. What a ride!! I am amazed at the quality of this vehicle. Every single feature it came with back in '97, and it had every bell and whistle you could get back then, still works perfectly. It has the smoothest ride of any vehicle I've ever owned, (I'm 60, so I've had a few), and has to be the easiest, most responsive vehicle I've ever driven. I am so very happy with this car/truck/SUV. I talked to a long time friend, who happens to drive nothing but Ford's for most of his life, and who was a 25 year USAF flight mechanic and then an Air Force flight mechanic instructor, who told me that the '97 was a first generation Expedition, and those vehicles were as sound and as well engineered a vehicle as Ford ever made, and that I was lucky to have it. After now owning it for almost a half year, and making two 1000+ mile trips (after new motor was broken in), I have to agree. I do feel lucky to have found such a great ride.

Congratulations. Sounds like a good deal. I didn’t think I would own a Ford again either, but I agree...never say never.
