2003 Ford Expedition XLT, Arizona Beige. 4.6L V8. Friend dyno'ed it us the other day. Still putting out a respectable 226HP @ 5000RPM with 55,000 miles on it (232 stock) Cleaned up, I would almost go so far as to say she looks like new! --NOTE- Mom drives this car most of the time so...

    Long Crank !!!!! Help !!!

The fuel pump if memory serves, is also inside the fuel tank in most cars nowadays, inaccessable to all but the most experienced mechanics. Definitely a job for the Dealer.

new to me expedition with a problem

Well, try putting the transmission in neutral first. I know that to go to 4 Lo you need to put the tranny in Neutral, but for 4 Hi it should work in gear up to 55MPH. See if putting it in N does anything. One of the things on expeditions that isn't too uncommon to go bad is the shifter motor...

    --Best tires--

Post your thoughts on the best tires for the expedition. The stock Continental Conti-Trac tires sucked, they lasted only 20,000 miles, were very noisy, and had awful snow traction. Smooth highway ride though. We replaced them with these. Michelin LTX M/S...

How Well Does Your Expy Tow?

Towed a 5600lb Jeep Wrangler (Big tires, lift, packing to the brim with stuff from the house when moving, very very heavy things) With our 2003 4.6L. With the big tires, it was significnatly taller than the truck on the trailer. It was a 500 mile trip through some mountains. The rear end sank...

    Hello from NY

I was thinking a flowmaster muffler maybe, I don't know. One of these times I'll take it out on the northway and do a quick 0-70 ish run video. I have to say, it shifts much smoother and quicker than the auto in our Mustang V6.

    Trasmission Smells Hot Under Load

When you have it changed, ask the mechanics to check for metal shavings in the oil, just to be safe.

    Hello from NY

Hello everybody! Glad to be here, looking forward to helping people out, and just hanging out too. Let me be clear, I am not the owner of our expedition, my parents are. I am 17 years old, but I love our truck and am the primary driver for now. Our truck has 54,858 miles on it right now, 6 and...

    Trasmission Smells Hot Under Load

If it happens in 4WD I would bet its a Transfer Case problem, not a transmission problem. I am not knowledgable about the setup of the Expeditions TC, but it might need the fluid replaced. Other than that though, I am not sure. We have only ever driven ours in 4-Lo once, most of the time its...

    engine studders

Glad it's working for now. Beware though, in a few months you will probably have to replace one or two, we had this problem with our 4.6, and ended up replacing the #s 3, 6,7 coils. It happened a couple months previously, we attributed it to bad gas- ended up being this.

    Check Engine light and stumbling

We had this exact same problem last spring/summer with our 4.6. If you can get the OBD thing to connect, your looking for cylinder misfire. It seems the Coil-over-plug ignition coils go bad, and cause this. You also experiencing poor performance, much less power, and we had severe stumbling...

    Front A/C speed doesn't work

Hello all, :) I'm new here I have a question or two. First, the other day we noticed that the first speed on the front A/C (the standard knob type control) doesn't work, it blows no air at all. But speeds 2-4 all work. I talked to my grandfather, who had the same problem with his 97 Chevy...
