No, Ford was never able to fix it. I bet the dealer put hundreds of miles on it driving it and never could pinpoint it. I'm about to crack 120,000 and it's still there, quite annoying.
Getting ready to do my coolant in a couple weeks. I plan to do the hoses and coolant. Haven't decided on the thermostat yet or not.
Any tips or tricks on doing the change?
That's a lot of outlay for something I can find everytime I drive it, but the dealer used 200 miles and a whole bunch of gas for nothing.....computer mechanics vs real ones is my guess. I have money on some sort of transmission issue, but its not broken...
Negative, been living with it for 50k miles, several years, and dealers never being able to identify any causals. It happens almost everytime I get on the highway. Very discouraging.
For what its worth. I 'had' factory band sensors. One broke off and bounced around inside the wheel. I replaced it with a stem style (so I have 3 band and 1 stem) and my system still works great - reprogrammed it all with the little Ford tool I bought from the dealer. This is on 22" wheels -...
Should be easy to cut in...there is nothing behind that panel...you can tuck all sorts of goodies up there.....you should be able to mock in some cubby of sorts or just a slot.

If you don't want annoying...don't get a glass pack; I prefer Magnaflow for a mellow noise without being droany....Gibson would be okay too; I find most flowmasters kind of loud for what you are wanting
Its very odd....seems like its louder than the vacuum lines...its a notable whistle/high pitched howl that I can hear well above HVAC and radio (unless the radio is turned way up) -> Crystal, looking forward to seeing what you can do to make my dealer investigate rather than just "not reproduce...
Got one heck of an annoyance that can't be pinpointed - looking for help.....
I get a whistle noise at speed; sounds like its coming from the front, underneath the vehicle...maybe more on the passenger side. It has been doing it since new, but is becoming more frequent - almost 40K miles now...
$600 shipped yes, you can get it lots of places. Occasionally they are on ebay, just find a JL dealer they can get it - I think sonic electronix can get them too.
Check out my thread for a moderate complexity, fully integrated install....ask any questions you want in my thread
