    Just bought a 1999 Expedition XLT 4.6L & noticed the trouble code P0401.. It Runs Pretty Rough Driving (lots of vibrations) & also has a kind of ticking around the engine.. Would this code do any of those symptoms? What's the best way to get started on fixing this code as well? Thanks in advance!

    i have only experienced this a few times & only when the engine is cold.. ill drive slow out of the neighborhood and then it shifts to second fine but then the rpms will rev higher and it feels like it shifted again to second.. other then that it feels like it shifts perfectly any ideas?

    This is exactly what happened in my Caprice & Roadmaster.. Driving Fine Til about 45 mph.. letting off the gas or flooring it stopped the sputter.. it was Injectors going bad.. Hope That Helped a little

    turned out i had 2 bad coils.. so i replaced those and all the spark plugs.. running back to normal.. also found the vacuum leak. intake gasket needs replaced
