My best e.t. was 12.61 @ 107.5 mph and that was back in 2012 I believe. It's posted on dragtimes if you want to look it up. Curious if anyone has taken their 4th gen to the track and what kind of numbers they are posting? I know it's not your typical track vehicle but the 3.5 ecoboost is quite capable and responds very well to a tune and mods.- toms89

97 expedition 5.4. Comp Cam
Comp Cams 102500 in mine but with boost and TFS heads. http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=968&sb=0 Zero lope. I would forget about lope in a heavy SUV. What gives you the lope will also kill low end power / torque and require modding almost the entire drivetrain...- toms89

upgrading cam
"Loppy idle" cams generally mean there is significant overlap for more power at higher rpms and this moves the powerband up. Power will be down in the lower rpms as well as significantly higher emissions. Always a trade off and not very good one in a heavy "work" truck unless it is off road or...- toms89

What did you do to the expy today
I actually got a fresh battery and ran my beast today ! Been sitting awhile.. :-( Just making sure I am prepared for the 'potential' snow. My taurus SHO is awd but given the high mileage low profile tires and low ground clearance, I don't have a lot of faith in it in anything more than a few...- toms89

Do a search on inner fender liner for your year expedition. -

Piston Slap?
No cam phasers on 2v motors so you can rule that out. A timing chain tensioner maybe? Hydraulic lash adjuster is another possibility I would consider. May bleed down while sitting and not fully pump up till warm.- toms89

the Ex needs more power!
I really enjoy when people try that to me now.. Would love to see the expression on their face when I punch the throttle because no one expects a 3 ton expy to move that quickly. As far as off the line acceleration I would say changing the rear gear ratio would be the best bang for your buck...- toms89

4WD vs 2WD for street race performance
The A4wd is a blast on the street. It comes out of the hole very hard for a 3 ton suv and surprises more than a few. So effortless to launch. Just digs in and goes. Punching it in 2wd results in a lot of wheel spin of course. At the track an identical 2wd would be quicker given a decent...- toms89

Have not been on here lately due too life issues. Going through separation / divorce and its been a long ongoing process. The taurus SHO has been my primary means of transportation. The expedition has the engine tick which may be as simple as a bad lash adjuster or potentially a bad valve...- toms89
