Totaled - Sell or Scrap?
Thanks for the help guys. I think for now the plan is to drive the 1996 Windstar my father lent me, pay off the loan on the Expy, and then see about fixing it. The wife just wants me to scrap it this week but I'm trying to hold off.- IAExpy

The engine only has 90,000 miles on it, but I'm fairly sure it's beyond the point of being rebuilt. Maybe not, I'm not a huge car guy yet. I have a friend who's overly confident usually, suggesting we buy an engine from a scrap yard and "just drop it in". I know enough to know it's not a matter...- IAExpy

Alright, it finally happened, and it's all my fault. I did an oil change, made a rookie mistake because I was tired and didn't get the old gasket all the way off the filter, which made my new one pop off while driving. Lots all my oil, and engine seized up before I could get off the interstate...- IAExpy

setting idle speed with programmer
I'm no expert, and maybe this is dumb, but at some point wouldn't you be low enough to no longer be charging the battery, so even at idle you're just sapping battery power?- IAExpy

High beams + fog lights ???
Some people just like the look of them on, while others, like myself, appreciate the wider spread of light. I live in a neighborhood with a lot of kids, and fog lights shine under cars better for me so I can see if there are a little set of feet playing in front of a parked vehicle I'm about to...- IAExpy

High beams + fog lights ???
I know on the first gen they stay on when you "pull" the highbeam, but go off when you "push" it. I believe there is a mod I've read about on this site, but I can't remember the catchy name for it.- IAExpy

All Repairs
I'm a VERY novice home mechanic, but between my buddy who is a hobby mechanic and I we are able to do most things. Changed plugs, did GOTTS mod, installed a brush guard, few electrical mods all done ourselves. I took it to a shop to replace the trailing arms because I didn't have the tools. -
PinStripe Removal
do you need to do anything to protect the paint under, or is the pinstripe over the clear coat? -

Sct?
I have an SCT, didn't notice much power increase with the stock 93 Octane tune, but with 89 Octane tune and reasonable driving I did get about a 3mpg gain. Haven't done a custom tune from anywhere yet though, these are just stock to the machine.- IAExpy

Power Loss at 50mph
I don't know about my gears, I've never changed them and I have no reason to believe the original owner did either, so whatever is stock. It does seem to help a little bit when I turn overdrive off, but there is still a significant power drop.- IAExpy

No shaking or sputtering, I can hear the air still sucking in strong through the Gotts mod. Tires are stock size, so I don't think that's the problem.- IAExpy
