    Got a couple projects done...

Been busy, so I've been lurking on here lately, haven't had anything new to add until today :-) Finally got my Gott's mod done, and installed new spark plugs today. The Gott's mod went pretty well, took me about 30 minutes or so. I tried a time saving method for shaping the PVC, and it...

    Gas Milage....

I have one just like yours, 2003 XLT with the 4.6. Mine is 4x4, and I have 78,000 on it. I get anywhere from 13-16 mixed urban/highway driving. I have not made any mods to mine.

    Fuel Pressure q's

Ok, finally got my pump pressure tested. Turned out the adapter on the gauge that I was using didn't fit right, got that switched and hey presto, the gauge worked. So, what we found was that the key on really didn't even register anything on the gauge, which is a little suspect, (just...

    Fuel Pressure q's

Ok, will do. Thanks for all the help guys, I gotta run now and get kids to their stuff in a bit. Never a dull moment!

    Fuel Pressure q's

I've checked the fittings. The gauge I have is set up with the large threaded end on the hose, and then an adapter to go on the smaller (schrader) fitting. I have done several combinations of things, including screwing on just the small fitting onto the valve on the rail, and depressing the...

    Fuel Pressure q's

When you say it may need the schrader valve removed, what do you mean? On the gauge itself or are you talking on the fuel rail?

    Fuel Pressure q's

What else can I check? It's obviously getting fuel, because it starts, runs, and drives, WOT and everything. It does have a slightly rough idle, which is what started me on checking this, since poor fuel pressure can produce a rough idle.

    Fuel Pressure q's

No, no clatter. And I just went out and started it with the key on while the gauge was on, and still no pressure. Maybe the little valve has some debris in it? I really don't think that could happen, not enough to block it completely anyway...

    Fuel Pressure q's

Just key on. Guess I could check it running too, huh? Just kinda got sidetracked by the initial findings :-)

    Fuel Pressure q's

Hmm, I'll have to take a look at the lines coming from the tank. Mine does start hard, but only cranks for 3-5 seconds if I go from cold. Been cycling the key to build the pressure so it doesn't have to crank so hard. I just don't understand why when the key is on there's nothing more than a...

And one more thing: My expy runs. This is not a no-start issue.

    Fuel Pressure q's

So based on some earlier questions I had, I went ahead and borrowed a fuel pressure gauge to check my pressures. Finally got time to start in on it, found the fitting on the rail, pulled the little cap off, hooked up the gauge and started testing. Well, the gauge registered no pressure when I...

    Snow in CO

Springs is higher than Denver. They certainly can get snow, but it really has its own weather system compared with the surrounding areas.

    Engine Whining after start up

Fan clutch maybe? Can you locate the sound in the engine compartment when its running?

    Snow in CO

Since we've lived here, I'm always amazed at how the Springs seem to escape big snowfall. Seems like there's always a weather hole there. Makes it nice, though. Personally I think the weather in the Springs (and out here where I live, more or less) is about perfect.

river crossing, stuck in snow..same day!

Makes our snow here look puny by comparison! Lol, oh well, we are a lot further away from the Arctic Circle here. I would love to visit up there someday, tho...

    Snow in CO

Well, the storm finally finished in the night, and we were out on the south edge, but it was a doozy. Here, we had 6-8 inches of snowfall, with 30-40 mph winds. Further north from us, it just got deeper. Lots of roads closed, even I-70 east of Denver was shut down. We had some unexpected...

    Rocky Mountain Expeditions

Told my wife about it. She said "...with the Expedition we just bought?!?!?" Yup. In all honesty, she's a good sport. Might be a good outlet. We kinda get stuck in a rut of doing the same-old, same-old. Hope having a bone-stock rig is ok. Gonna be a while before any mods...

    Rocky Mountain Expeditions

Okey dokey, I just joined the group. Gonna talk the wife into it now :-) It sounds like fun. Looked at China Wall, and that looks pretty cool. I think the kids would love that!

    Rocky Mountain Expeditions

BTW, how's your weather up there? Aren't you up near Castle Rock, ZBT?

    Rocky Mountain Expeditions

Well, I'd probably be interested, depending on how often and where. Might be kinda fun. I know this might be a bit early to ask, but are you thinking the meet-ups would be family-friendly, or whatcha got in mind?

    Snow & 4wd

Well, if you need to play in some snow, you're sure welcome here in CO! I've got about 5-6" out there right now, and we're supposed to get hammered with more through tonight into tomorrow. Drove around in it tonight, had to go visit some friends, and it's the first time I've driven ours in...

    Maintenance Q's

An access port, huh? Man, that would be nice. Even on a pickup, at least you have the option to just unbolt the bed and go that route. Oh well... I'm borrowing a pressure gauge from a friend tomorrow, going to check pressures on the rails and see what it looks like. Hopefully a new pump will...

    Maintenance Q's

Ya know, I really like the Expedition, and I knew that buying a used vehicle means the possibility of some maintenance catch-up. *sigh* I guess the good thing is, if I get all this done, it's probably good to go for a long time yet. I'm spoiled, my 04 Chevy Express van just keeps running...
