    I had a rusted out trailing arm as well. Placing the jack stands under the frame is the best spot but i threw two just under the axle as an extra messure. They were not acutally touching the axle but there for a peace of mind.

    Redoing all the brakes isnt too dificult. Odds are its a corroded brake line. Mine as well buy all knew brake lines if you plan on keeping your truck for awhile. You have too bleed all the brakes already so mine as well make everything fresh.
