    Chasing Intermittent Vibration/Rumble - 2002 Expedition

I am having the same problem on my 01, I changed the diff fluid and did a good flush a month ago and found fines on the plug and flakes in the bottom of the diff housing. I flushed and refilled to find the vibe/howl gone, now it is back and I checked the plug and it has much more fines on it now...

    New wheels have arrived

Those are nice looking! Do they have an offset on them? We have a 01 XLT 4wd w/ stock wheels and they sit "in" a little too much, I would like to see wheel slike yours and a wee bit os offset over stock. WSS1

    Rear cat delete

I have never understood the reasoning with cali, if I am getting better mpg, isn't that less pollution? I just did a cat on a jeep for a friend and found that we are very special! It had to ba a certain cat (1 state as opposed to a 49 state). Ahhh, the republic of California. LOL WSS1

Can a good custom tuner write up a tune and eliminate the 02 sensors or whatever it is that will throw the code?

    cd changer blues

For parts, not working......... I cleaned the lens on ours and came to the conclusion that it is a mechanical problem. The discs do not appear to be actually shuffling. The deck says no cd in mag. Well, I pulled it out and had intended it for the dumpster. If anyone is interested (parts maybe?)...

    Front end suspension noises

Here is a thread that helped me tackle it. watch the vid in post 9 http://expeditionforum.com/showthread.php?t=11046&highlight=camber+kit I did the upper complete instead of just changing the BJ, the upper was 90 bucks I think. I also put in the camber kit while I had the upper out. Orielleys...

    cd changer blues

Funny, I was hoping someone would say that! I was not looking forward to figuring out why and how to fix the changer. I could use the extra room in the console anyway. BIG question: What would you purchase to put in your expy? do the 2-din models fit good?

    PATS Question

The fuse thing can get wierd. I changed all my fuses two summers ago due to a crack in an original. The AC went out when my wife hit a low curb on a left hand turn (kinda hidden, she's a better driver than me), it did not seem that hard, have done much worse off road. But it was enough to lose...

PATS issue (who DOESN'T have one, LOL)

Just a thought.. I had the same symptoms (01) and found it to be a fuel pump. My "local" dealer sold me a new remote for big$$ and a week later same thing. An hour later it starts. Well one time it broke down away from home and we ended up at a more "truck" Ford dealer and while the service...

Whats your favorite tool in your garage.

My 6'x12' CNC cutting table, 20ga to 4". Does both oxy/fuel and plaz. It sits in the spot that our '72 Scout II used to sit. WSS1

    Spark plugs....can I do it?

Tackled it! Got it done today! Took about three hours to do. I did pull the fuel rails and it made all the difference for me. I also cleaned the MAF and TB while it was open. The MAF was easy as it was exposed on the K&N elbow. The TB took a little spray and sit time until it was clean. I was...

Hitch step and tow strap mount combo

Exactly like it is, w/ one pin $35. It needs some mods though. It will work fine the way it is but I would like to make the kickplate slightly taller and the step at least 2" wider. If you want a custom logo or just some text, like a family name cut out for it, it would be a little extra too. I...

Hitch step and tow strap mount combo

Here is the prototype installed. My wife hit her knee on it twice, once for each knee while unloading stuff at the Goodwill store, so did one of the helpers. It looks like prius eater for sure. I will leave it in for a week and see if we get used to it. WSS1

Hitch step and tow strap mount combo

tallsville, I do. I'm cheap if it's a fun project too. I am in Ontario/Chino. We do mostly industrial cutting for rock crushers and railroad cars, but love the custom truck stuff. WSS1

Hitch step and tow strap mount combo

If tallsville is from OC, then he has probably been to a mc fadden dale hardware, it is a hardware store on steroids. At least 20% of it is devoted to fasteners. To be honest, we probably will not sell them, I plan on making them for our customers and giving them out, kinda like goodwill. I...

Hitch step and tow strap mount combo

I'm not sure. It is a standard 5/8" receiver pin. I am pretty sure most of them are at least a grade 8 or equivalent. I picked them up from Mc fadden dale hardware today (Are you from L.A. or LA?), they usually have good stuff. I looked at a few different types and noted the locking type are...

    Spark plugs....can I do it?

I will definately use a torque wrench to tighten. I have a nice step platform for working on equipment that puts everything about (big) belly high LOL. Have some Motorcraft SP479 plugs on the way, probably tackle it this weekend. Also have a flowmaster 70 and two front 02 sensors coming! WSS1

Hitch step and tow strap mount combo

Today I put this together for our expedition. It is a prototype for larger service trucks and flatbed delivery trucks. This one has a 8" by 4" step and a 5/8" hitch pin that is removable below the step for putting a tow strap around. The next version will have a 10" by 4" step and a little...

    Please help diagnose drivetrain/engine noise

A couple of things I have encountered is 1) both front wheels made a ticking sound at different speeds but were the same sound and also the same solution. It was the stamped nut lock that is held on by the cotterpin rattling (splined shaft that holds the hub onto the cv ahaft). I removed and...
