If you decide to to swap to 4x4 please post how it goes, been thinking about it myself but not entirely sure on the electronics side of things how easy it would be. Even though on my 04 it seems that i would mostly be plug in harnesses and add in 4x4 module.
So Ive been having a problem for a few months in June I was working at a camp with my 2004 5.4. A sound had developed in the engine bay that is basically a wining noise and many people told me that it sounded like a ford power steering pump. I've had no problems with the powering steering that I...
Got it fixed, I just forgot to reconnect one of the HVAC control connectors back to the control knobs, I just didn't realize the controls for the back also ran through those connectors
So, anyway to spare you all of the hilarious "details" had to pull the dashboard off of my 2004 xlt. I have done this before with out a problem but after I put it all back together and found that the blower wasn't working on any setting. I get heat but the blower is definitely not working now...
yah I'd rather have them be automatic because I have left lights on before and killed the battery, plus I just put an LED bar behind the grill that I already have to remember to cut off lol
This has happened to my 04 bad last year. The latch gears freeze shut. I had to pull with all my weight to get the door open but then the gears were jammed open. Take a screw driver into the latch and force it to close. Mine was fine since then.
GUYS . . . I screwed up. Truck is fixed now but . . . I may have been replacing coils and plugs . . . on the wrong cylinder! Yah oops didn't see that cylinder 5 was under the metal bracket that holds a reservoir right there. I believe in addition to many other things, I will call this an...
So update! Put in a new spark plug on cylinder 5 and . . . no change. Next up I suppose is a compression test and see what that yields. Other Ideas that I have been given are:
something caught in fuel rail between cylinder 5 & 6
crankshift position sensor?
cams and/ or cam phasers
Burnt...
All the plugs were done by myself and my cousin who is a mechanic. Really hoping its not a piston problem. My cousin seems to think it may be a vacuum leak issue somewhere but would that cause a misfire on a specific cylinder? I would think that if it even did cause a misfire that it would be...
Hey guys I know recently there has been quite a few discussions on misfires. I have a 2004 Expy 5.4 with a misfire on cylinder 5 as far as I can tell from my OBD II Reader. It seems to be mostly triggered between 40-55 mph between 1200-1500 rpm at pretty much any level of incline. I have...
So guys, I am working on changing out one of my fuel injectors and when I was removing hoses to get at the fuel rail I pulled one and didn't realize it still had pressure. Any way I've lost a couple of quarts of fluid but I am not sure of what. It was a clear fluid with a yellowish tint and...
I do believe the culprit is cylinder #5 but I will check again for sure this weekend when I drive back to Alabama. In response to jack's post what is the consensus on the 8 packs of coils that can be found on amazon for around $50 - $80. I'd like to be able to by the pack and replace as needed.
Hi all, back again with a new problem. I have developed what seems to be a bad coil on one the cylinders. I am not getting a code but I can feel the misfires and the Torque Pro app I have hooked to the OBD II port counts my misfires while I drive. My issue is that the expedition doesn't seem to...
Barricade My 04 Has this exact same problem and just about 130,000 miles too. Our family mechanic thinks it has something to do with the fuel regulator.
Yes Stamp it was definitely a Kodak moment. My uncle used a test light to see which fuses and relays were losing power.
However, I have put in a new to me instrument cluster and this seems to have so far fixed the problem.
In most recent news, I now have just put the new fuse box in from the 2003. I haven't driven it yet because the ABS light is on and the check engine light is on. In addition the doors sensors don't seem to work and the power locks don't work. But so far the original problem seems to not exist...
Thanks for that Stamp, and also please don't kill me for this next part.
In most recent news, my mechanic uncle finally made some time to look at my truck and he said that the problem is definitely either the instrument cluster or the fuse box that is housing the problem. He had the bright idea...
Thats weird but I think a different problem, my dash lights stay on. However, my alternator is only putting out ~13.6 volts at any given time. I also finally had to get a new battery this weekend as mine was 5+ years old and finally quite. Still waiting to see if Stamp comes up with anything...
