WHY WAS I NOT TOLD ABOUT THE FUSE BOX RELAY ISSUE FOR THE 2003?!
I replaced mine in the parking lot of my work. In the dark. Went into work only to remove and solder on the new part. You only need minor soldering skills for this. CD error message
'03 Expy here. My fix (probably temporary) was a combination of hand slamming the top, right after selecting CD and instead of "CD Error" it started trying to initialize again (after months of just CD error). I could hear it try to get things right a few times internally then back to CD error...- lane87

I am in the same boat. The crank case leak is quite manageable. Less than a quart between oil changes so I am putting it off for a little longer. I am not sure about the crank case gasket as my mechanic is getting that for me. He also suggested adding a "crank saver" additional part incase there...- lane87

I have the parts (recommended above) but I am holding off to have my "trusted" local mechanic get it up on the lift, drop the pan, have a look around at the magnets etc. and decide...- lane87

Thanks 1955Mosse. I understand I got bad advice. Correct 4 speed. 2WD. Guess I will just eat the $3-5k when it goes then. This vehicle is in too good of shape. Manual says only check fluid levels 100k + unless tran is AX4S and I guess the dude thought that meant 4WD???Hell if I know.- lane87

OK, here it is, I do (almost) all my own work on my Expy and the reason I never touched the trans fluid over 200K is because early on (during warranty days) the service guy at Ford dealership said it was designed to last the life of the vehicle. Hence the no drain plug. Made sense at the time...- lane87

Just thinking out loud here... Turns out replacing VSM requires a re-program at the dealer. $$$ Forget that. Now I am thinking it may perhaps be one of the relays in the module. Particularly the one that cycles the parking lamps on lock. Sure wish I knew what 4 honks on lock meant.- lane87

Thanks for the advice and diagram. Reset all connectors several times now. Carefully examined the wires and seating of the each clip . all looks like its in great shape. Once re-seating worked for about half a day and then the next time no good and now it is no longer intermittent. My Expy is a...- lane87

I just ran a quick test. If I leave a door open intentionally (back window) with door ajar light present I get: 3 honks on Lock 4 Honks on unlock So I am getting something different and need to find a reference sheet for "honk codes" apparently.- lane87

03' expy xlt 178k miles. Still runs great!
Been a great suv. Adding struts and shocks this weekend. Put vented ported rotors on it when I first bought it(11 yrs ago) from rotor pros and it was the best decision ever! No brake dust on the rims and ceramic pads last forever. Really need a new overhead console though. Very hard to find...- lane87
