    Parking Brake Malfunction

Mine broke too. Intermittent warning for awhile and constant today. How did you fix it? The wires are pretty work hardened. They broke right where they were kinked tightly at the junction of the lower control arm and the hub. Seems like there should be a TSB or recall on this issue.

    Touch Up Paint

That's what I thought, maybe because it's metallic. But I think they could have done a bit better.

    Touch Up Paint

2018 Expy Max, White Platinum. Bought the touch up paint from the dealer, doesn't match at all. Wondering if anybody else has had the same problem, any solutions?

    Eco boost mpg

My 2008 averaged ~15MPG. I never saw >18MPG, even freeway at 65MPH. My 2018 gets at least 30% better mileage. I've been seeing 15MPG towing my boat.

    Eco boost mpg

Recent round trip from SLC to northern California, 1422 miles, CC at 67MPH, 24.3MPG, 2018 Max XLT. Average City/Hwy is ~20MPG. Way better than my Gen 3, about 33%.

    Boost MPG New Thread

Yep, I left SLC at just after 7:00AM, arrived Yuba City (660 miles) at just after 7:00PM. That included a 1.5 hour stop in Reno for fuel and bourbon. Costco sells it in Nevada, not in Utah.

    Boost MPG New Thread

Nope, I don't. It was interesting, though. Both on the way over and on the way back I had several cars, trucks, trucks pulling trailers, etc, pass me multiple times. They'd pass going 80MPH, then an hour or so later they'd pass me again. Slow and steady wins the race.... and gets better...

    Boost MPG New Thread

Actually, the Expy Max has a drag coefficient of .35, which isn't that bad. Way better than, say, the F150, which is listed at .56. Drag is proportional to the velocity squared, so the difference in drag between 67MPH and 75MPH is 25%. The absolute best way to reduce drag and improve mileage...

    Boost MPG New Thread

I used this trip as a test. I've been wanting to it since new, drive a long distance on the interstate at slower speed on cruise control. Couldn't do it wife my wife in the car as she hates going under the speed limit. Rather, she sees speed limits as the recommended minimum speed. So, I was...

    Boost MPG New Thread

ECO mode, slow down, tailwind helps a lot. I just returned to Utah from a 1422 mile trip to northern California. Mostly I-80. Set CC at 67MPH both ways. Calculated mileage overall was 24.3MPG, XLT Max. Tire pressure 42PSI, Michelins. I filled up in Reno and drove nonstop home, ~522 miles...

    Fuel Door Removal

How do you do it? It's not like previous generations. There are two openings in the hinge, one on the bottom, the other on the back. I inserted a screwdriver both places but nothing happened. The door itself got pushed rearward, so the front is protruding out. The front of the housing...

    Auto Bluetooth

Is there a way that my 2018 will automatically connect to my Pixel 6 Pro? Every time I get into it I have to do somersaults to get it connected. I put all my music on the new phone and want to play it through the sound system.

    Acorn Nuts

I bought a 21mm impact socket for $7.00. I'll hammer it on using a block of wood and a hammer, break the nut, then work the socket off the nut. PITA to have to carry the extra tools, though. I wonder how much it would cost Ford to put on quality one-piece nuts.

    Acorn Nuts

The Quick Lane techs at my dealer hammer a 21mm socket on to remove the nuts, then work it off. Guess I'll do the same. I'll buy the flip socket because it's an impact.

    Acorn Nuts

That's what I'm thinking. A 21mm is too small, but a 22mm is too big. BTW, Costco used a 22mm to change my tire, probably Discount did the same. A 7/8" is 22.2mm, so is also too big. I found a "flip socket", which is 21mm/21.5mm, which may do the trick. Also, I have my oil changes done at...

    Acorn Nuts

Couldn't get a wheel off today. Haven't tried before. The factory lug wrench wouldn't work because the nuts had swollen. I need to replace all of them. This sounds like I common problem. What brand of nuts is everybody using? Or people just buying a bigger lug wrench?

Impact of Heavy Duty Tow Package (w/ 3.73 axle ratio) on MPG gas mileage

Agree. Not really much difference in output, and the fuel consumption should be equal unless you are deep into the gas pedal a lot.

Impact of Heavy Duty Tow Package (w/ 3.73 axle ratio) on MPG gas mileage

I'm at 269.7 miles on this tank, 23.6MPG, 441 miles to empty. Mixed city/highway. I routinely go over 500 miles on a tank. Standard hitch, no HD tow package, XLT Max.

That's what sport mode is designed to do. More responsive acceleration requires lower gearing.

Impact of Heavy Duty Tow Package (w/ 3.73 axle ratio) on MPG gas mileage

I stay in the right two lanes. People blow my doors off, but I'm cool with that. Speed limits here are 70MPH, 80MPH on the Interstates outside of metro areas. I don't use my brakes much, either.:) If I can't get somewhere in 1st gear and AWD, I get out and hike. Using the quads God gave me.

Impact of Heavy Duty Tow Package (w/ 3.73 axle ratio) on MPG gas mileage

Mine is all wheel drive, which makes sense as the wheelbase is really too long to be a fully capable rock crawler. I can get where I need to go to hunt archery elk, which is what really matters. Don't need a low range with the 10-speed transmission, cooling isn't an issue, so I'm good. Hand...

Impact of Heavy Duty Tow Package (w/ 3.73 axle ratio) on MPG gas mileage

I have a 2018 Max, no HD tow package. Wouldn't have it, as my boat is under 4000#. I average a bit over 20MPG, much better on the highway. The tow package is recommended only if you tow more than 6000#. Doesn't make sense to me to pay more for something you don't need that hurts fuel mileage.

My 2018 XLT Max with OEM 18's rides just fine.

1 like and 1 Dislike about your Expedition?

The interior, especially the dash, is cheap and plasticky. I also don't like the radio asks at every startup whether I want to turn on updates. I've reset the settings several times but it keeps coming back. I like just about everything else.
