your heater core leak will NOT be inside the truck, it will leak out at the ac condensate drain. I know from experience on this one. http://i.imgur.com/GfUccSO.jpg the core and evap core are right beside each other.
so the rear arms and whatnot won't swap? I don't know the condition of the rear end of the donor but I think the lsd is either welded or stuck. both tires spin and it binds in hard turns.
stupid me forgot to keep checking the exposed engine I have in the green machine and it got uncovered slightly and now the exposed bores got water from condensation in them and are rusted pretty bad. I have a 98 expedition here that has frame and body rot but a usable engine and trans although...
I am having to lift mine up to get the oil pan off for p/u tube and pump replacement while I do the head gaskets. needs to be unbolted from trans though as the bell housing wont clear the firewall unless you straight up pull the whole assy out
About to lift the engine block off the trans to get the oil pan off to replace the p/u tube and pump. I will be able to get at the torque converter to remove it too because it has the shudder from the front of the truck. same as many of the threads I looked at that ended up replacing it for the...
pull the drain cover and confirm which way the engine is supposed to turn and use a rachet on the bolt. or bump the starter via the solenoid to get the drain bolt to line up with the "inspection hole"
Okay, I got the first new part to install on the '97 expedition and before it was much more than hand tight the damned thing just cracked. normally I can just blame myself for too much power behind the wrench but there was no resistance. this thing cost near $60 so if I get another I would like...
rear ac uses expansion valve. front ac uses orifice tube. factory charge is just over 3 lb. I lost my data plate so I charged by pressures with throttle at 2k revs. I can't speak on vent temps I was able to get 34f out of my front vents at best, usually got 42 on really hot days. rear vents were...
305k miles leaking coolant and oil out of the right rear of the engine. confirmed it was the head gasket.
I have the top end of my engine apart with all bolts and all organized. I am ready to order parts but I am not sure what all I need to order. I know I will need a ft lb torque wrench...
although it is cost prohibitive I am sure, if it proves too much work to fix the rust you can always grab another expy from the southern us states. I compared my 305k mile expy to a 150k mile rust belt expy and the difference is appalling.
If you have a test light you can compare the wires coming out of the door connection to the wires going to the mirror. with the key on engine off if you have an extra wire you can probe it with a test light and press the rear defrost button, if the light comes on/goes off when you turn on/off...
if the 4wd was stuck could the front drive shaft turn free when the key is off (after shifting to 2wd)?
I did a test in some wet grass and in awd it takes a second to get the fronts to spin, then in 4hi they spin and I can hear the click and jerk into 4lo and back to 4hi.
either way the...
a little more looking around and there is too much rust to deal with. how difficult 1 - 10 would it be to just get a diff expy with bad motor and just swap that all over then scrap this rusty one and sell parts like the xfercase if the reciepient of this motor doesn't need one. this of course...
Update.
4x4 works don't know about awd but 4lo and 4hi work
rear diff appears to be welded or just stuck, sharp turns in the grass result in groaning noise then the slower tire suddenly spins a bit as if to unload the stress
body is rusted pretty bad, it gets into the floor pans in a couple...
Got it as a toy since it has rusted out rocker panels and needs ALL the maintenance caught up. it looks to cost more to fix than the 97 I have with bad head gasket.
5.4l looks like it has a 4r100 trans (bigger pan than the 4r70w that my 97 has)
4l and 4h do not work yet, little red thing...
exchange rt it is. do you remember what the price OTD was for yours? I only really NEED one done but I will be doing both since they both have 305k miles and looking at the spark plugs from last change at 295k miles and these at 305k the oil ash build up is telling me to do both
