    Brakes randomly engaging

I don't have a laptop, but I can download the mobile app if it'll scan ABS also. I have an OBDII Bluetooth adapter that I use with Torque, if it'll work with Forscan.

    Brakes randomly engaging

No, but the way she describes it, it's as though it's an electronic issue like we had when we first got it. She said one time, when she was accelerating with the drag, whatever it was released and put her back into the seat. Park brakes are all mechanical, I believe.

    Brakes randomly engaging

Hey guys, so my wife tells me sometimes when driving the expedition it feels like the brakes are engaging and disengaging randomly (She drove it all around town like that ☹️) She's not great at giving specifics, and, as usual, when I drove it, it drove perfectly fine. The check engine light was...

    4r100 valve body parts

Well this was a waste of time. Bought a shift-rite set from Amazon. Thanks for the input...[emoji19] Sent from my SM-N970U using Tapatalk

    4r100 valve body parts

I have a rebuilt 4r100 in my expy that has been skipping third gear. My dad and I took the pan off and replaced the solenoid body since it was not replaced during the rebuild, and while in it, we were going to upgrade the accumulator valves and replace the 2-3 shift valve. Turns out there was a...

    4r100 3-4 shift concern

That's what I thought too. But this is happening between 3rd and 4th at all temperatures, whether OD on or off. Even tried manual 2 to manual 3 with OD off. Same thing.

    4r100 3-4 shift concern

Okay, so you're thinking I have a sticky 2-3 shift valve?

Can anyone help decipher freeze frame data please?

How is your PCV valve? Reason I ask is that a sticky pcv valve can create a vacuum leak, and that's about a $3 part.

Can anyone help decipher freeze frame data please?

There should be pressure at all times. It is supposed to hold whatever pressure was there when the engine was turned off. Mine, IIRC, held at 38.

Can anyone help decipher freeze frame data please?

If you need any technical information, I have all of the workshop manuals for the 2001 expedition. All you have to do is ask.

Can anyone help decipher freeze frame data please?

A vac leak would be more noticeable at idle, but like I said, that may be coincidence that the pcm set the code at idle. The pcm likely picked up a problem before that and monitored for so many cycles, and that happened to be what the rpm was on that cycle when it set the code. Notice your...

Can anyone help decipher freeze frame data please?

All you need to know from these numbers is that you have a lean condition. That's about all they'll tell you. If you understand what causes lean conditions, run with that. With my wife's expy, to trace that lean condition after putting the vehicle back together, I checked fuel pressure with a...

Can anyone help decipher freeze frame data please?

You say filter is new. Did you change it because you were experiencing hard starts with a check engine light on? Or was it part of your maintenance routine? Why are you thinking leaking intake gasket?

2001 expedition p0171 p0174 WITH LONG CRANKING TIME

Exactly. Just don't go sinking $$$ while overlooking a $14 fuel filter

2001 expedition p0171 p0174 WITH LONG CRANKING TIME

Don't over think it. They were thrown at idle, but that could be because that's when your engine went into closed loop mode and started taking readings from the oxygen sensors. Lean conditions while running at operating temp are either a vacuum leak or restricted fuel supply. Fuel filter...

2001 expedition p0171 p0174 WITH LONG CRANKING TIME

Definitely a possibility. I always start with simple stuff first. Fuel filters are cheap and easy.

2001 expedition p0171 p0174 WITH LONG CRANKING TIME

Mine was doing the same thing. Engine cold, it would sometimes be really hard to start. I was thinking intake leak, timing off, bad crank sensor, bad IAC valve, etc. Freeze frame data and codes were the same. Turns out there was trash (lots of it) in my fuel filter. Changed it, and the problem...

    4r100 3-4 shift concern

My dad and I recently overhauled the 4r100 in my wife's 2001 5.4 expy because of the infamous failed mechanical diode intermediate one way clutch. Replaced with the sprag design OWC, intermediate drum, and replaced the direct drum due to nicks in the splines from the OWC failure. Replaced all...

2001 expedition p0171 p0174 WITH LONG CRANKING TIME

Fuel filter? You'd be surprised what floating trash in a fuel filter can do. Simple stuff first... Check for bad vacuum hoses, loose clamps, dirty MAF sensor, easy stuff first, then go from there. IIRC P0171 and p0174 indicate lean conditions on both banks, so it's going to be air leak or...

    2001 PATS key question

Ok. Thanks for the reply. Someone else I know mentioned that already, but everything I found online said there's no way around the dealer. I'll try that, and if it doesn't work I guess I'll have to redneck it a little.

    2001 PATS key question

OK so I only have one key for my 01 expedition, and it is starting to wear. We went to the dealership on 3 separate occasions to see about getting one made and programmed, and after being quoted 2 different prices, we finally were told that they can't program the new key because ford doesn't...
